Im not sure if you are trolling or you just dont have a good grasp of how MTurk works. If I accept 25 Sergeys and work from my que, what happens is by the time I get to the last one its been "cooking," which is sort of a bad analogy evidently because you seem to be relating it to scamming. Anyway I have used up a good portion of the timer, have I done any less or shoddy work? No, what I have done is keep the average time per hit kind of high as opposed to someone who is doing them one at a time. I have also ensured that I get 25 hits while you get 2 if you are lucky.

What happens is requesters sometimes look at that average and if they think that the hits are getting done fast and they are still getting quality work then they might play the odds and drop the pay. These hits will still get done however because not every body lives in America and even some Americans can justify working for a cheaper wage, so the whole " you can just quit doing them" does not apply in this kind of work if you want to keep making money. The whole scamming point that you are trying to unsuccessfully make really does not apply here either. If Sergey thinks hes getting scammed then he blocks the workers. Yes there are scammers and when you hear people talking about AA times being really short some of them are scammers to be sure, but trying to keep the pay from dropping for the exact same amount of work is not scamming and if you think it is maybe you should get a 9-5 because that might suit your sensibilities better. Contract work is cutthroat and there is always someone that will do it cheaper, maybe not better but certainly cheaper and if you go about doing hits that pay .20 in 5 seconds the pay is gonna drop as long as the quality is still there.

I'm killing it over here while everyone else is arguing about how to do mturk. That's how you win, folks.

  3. So lying on a survey isn't scamming? Oh that's right, you can lie about time and that's okay, but lying about something on a survey isn't okay. How about claiming it took longer then it did to get money? Not scamming still? Not following me? If lying on a survey is considered scamming on Mturk then so is lying in any other way. You are telling people to lie, plain and simple. Cooking timers is scamming because if gives the requester the impression that their pay is where they thought it should be and that things are taking as long as they should. You realize how stupid that makes us look to requesters? Saying one way of lying is okay, but another isn't?

Lying on a survey is scamming. Letting your timer run after filling in quality data is not.

  7. I made the point to him already that someone will always do it cheaper. I am well aware of that. Everyone seems to be glossing over the fact that it is lying period. I GET THE REASON, I even spelled it out. Just because it can help us make more money in the long run doesn't make it okay or right. Again, that's how contracting works. It's why more then one requester has told me that they don't trust this forum. They are well aware of people cooking timers. It doesn't work when they know it's happening.

  9. Again you're lying about the time it took in order to keep a wage or by chance raise it. You have said as much in the past. Giving false data is a scam. You giving a false time is a false piece of data. You can try to spin it however you want by saying quality data. But in the end you are still giving them false data to effect pay which is time.

Honestly, I think the confusion is resulting from the term "cooking timers." Makes the entire mess sound dishonest whether it is or not.

How about just rephrasing it to "using your queue." Which I'm assuming most of us do anyway, so what the hell is it everyone's even arguing about to begin with?

    Hug it out, peeps.

Or Cyberball to the death or something.

Doing a little experiment. Will be a dime and won't require looking up anything. Probably will have between 6-10 HITs. If you don't already have the Qual (Can't accept this if you do) submit it and I'll grant a qual.

It doesn't take a genius to see 30 hits come in with a timer of 30 min, 30 min, 30 min, only they are coming in 2 minutes apart from the same worker. You can assume the people designing your jobs are morons but they are the ones cutting your checks.
