Hi, I am new to this forum, and I actually came across it because I had a question about speechink. Does anyone know what the guideline for the non verbatim hits are? I been searching everywhere for it, but can't seem to come across anything. They don't even have any kind of information on their own site. So if anyone knows please let me know!! Also, about the speechink job alerter...anyone know how that works? It doesn't seem to be working for me, and there's no specific instructions or any kind of detail. Ugghh...I wish they would be more specific on their site. Anyways..sorry this isn't much of a introduction, but I'm really determined to look for this, since the higher end paying hits are non verbatim the majority of the time
Don't type the um, uh. Clean up false starts. Paragraphs for longer items. Only use speaker tokens if there's more than one speaker. It needs to read well as opposed to those insurance calls.
I know that you aren't supposed to be type the stutters, false starts, etc. and basically clean it up. But what about the speaker tokens? Is it the same as the insurance ones? I just don't want to turn something in and have it be wrong. Which will drop down my qualification with them. Thanks for your help!
That may be something you have to play with. Just be sure to use the same token each time for the same person - that was if someone's editing they can't do a "find and replace". I can't see it dropping your score too far, especially if you have consistently been doing good work so far. As far as I can tell, they average all the scores. Stronger base > more leeway when trying something new.
Welcome lkim802! I'm so late in my welcome, I hope you see this. I've done a LOT of work for SpeechInk, and they are great. I did about 30 verbatim HITs for them before I tried non-verbatim, so they knew with my score of around 95 that I was a pretty good transcriber. When I started the non-verbatim HITs, I was very lost. They are worse than CW when it comes to style guides; they don't even have one! Check the style guide tab for each non-verbatim HIT. If there is nothing there, follow the rules Whimsy mentioned, and I use the AP style guide for anything not listed. I haven't been rated on my non-verbatim transcriptions so far, but they have all been approved, some with (positive) feedback. Leave feedback in the HIT if you have questions/concerns. Good luck and happy turking.
I took a wing at it and did 2 non verbatim hits this past week, but they are still pending so I'm hoping it gets approved. I tried to follow their other guideline as much as possible. Thanks for all your advice!
