Is anyone able to do any redwood hits at the moment? when I tried, I got this message This webpage is not available The webpage at https://redwoodtech.net/hits/serve?...VAILABLE&hitId=2E4B3Q39Z0B6R0RJM55VWTVS8GBVK5 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Error 501 (net::ERR_INSECURE_RESPONSE): Unknown error. Is anyone getting the same message? Please respond.
Firefox has been blocking it for: "Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified." Boo...I wanted to work on my numbers before the weekend. =-(
Redwood has been down since around last Friday or so. It's not just in chrome. I've tried Chrome, IE9, and Firefox. None work.
I emailed redwood earlier today about the issue and just got this response: "Thanks for the message, we'll get back to you as soon as possible!"
That is an automated email obviously that he sent. He has sent me personal emails in the past though. I'm thinking he's making some changes to the system. Maybe he will change it where you have to summit legit work, so we can have more hits instead of people spamming him.
I hope he is making changes. Whenever I do the reviews at least half are just nonsense, people typing "blah blah" and things like that. It is irritating to know they are getting paid for nothing, when others actually do the work.
I agree, maybe he will raise the rates and have some sort of qualifying test to eliminate the scammers
I clicked on a hit for Speakertext and this is what it says: Go check out our new and improved SpeakerText platform under the requester name "Redwood"! We’ve made a lot of changes to improve the overall worker experience. Try us out, we think you’ll love it. Search Redwood on MTurk, accept the HIT, and good luck! Questions? Read more here: SpeakerText Version 2.0 Maybe speaker text is who we need to notify that the hits aren't working
I really doubt whether he'll make any change. It has been quite a while since the spamming activity is around. The spammer can spam once, twice but definitely not 100s. There's a very efficient review and rating system for redwood. If you mark all words red or mark "this field is blank", the transcriber actually gets a 0 rating for the job. . I don't know the exact score before they're cut-off, but the fraudsters surely will get weeded out eventually.
Last time I did the reviews I told him there needs to be a way to mark that the box is blank or words are missing. I would see the couple of words transcribed correctly but then nothing else was in the box. What was there was correct but its not a complete transcription. I hope when they come back there's a way to mark that there are words missing.
Redwoods security certificate expired on 11/1/12 and they have yet to update it. This is what is preventing the browsers from accessing. I tried updating some of my security settings to bypass the certificate and was able to get part of it to load but not much loaded and the HIT was still unworkable.
