I have a legitimate question for you. Why do you get to tell people how to live and what to do, but when anyone tries it with you, you go semi-apeshit on them? I'm not trying to start shit, but it's so fluffing frustrating.

I'm feeling the sads, too. That was a nice little run.

 

But I don't have to smile. The owner has never told me to. The managers have never told me to. I get to work early or on time. Never called in, pick up other people's shifts, all that jazz. The only feedback I get from my superiors is positive, and they're on the floor the whole time and they can see my face just fine.

I negotiated my raise in about 15 seconds and I've been working there for a month and a half. None of the other bussers have gotten a raise. Ever. One's worked there for two years.

And they've never told me to smile. If the guy with the name over the door doesn't care, I don't see why anyone should.

And I can't just find a new job. Finding a job is the hardest thing to do that doesn't involve dying.

And for what? To get somewhere else to find out that the management doesn't treat me with respect? That's it's a dead end job too but my contributions are not appreciated?

I am worthless to society, worse than worthless, truly, as I'll be in student loan debt until I die. I have no qualifications. I am lucky to have this job, where no one important demands that I smile. I've worked many worse jobs to put food on the table and keep the lights on.

 

I think you are confused.

People come here to relax while working, vent, and occasionally get a pat on the back to keep the day moving.

I just think people want good vibes when they express their feelings.

No one wants negativity am I right?

When you work around customers you HAVE to smile.

An unfriendly person or a grumpy person can have a direct influence on the attitude or mood of someone else, the area, or the room.

Don't you know that?

Would you rather dine at a restaurant where employees are happy, helpful, and smiling or would you rather dine at a restaurant where they are grumpy, mopey, and have an attitude, yet are helpful?

I'll take the top one every time. It's a more pleasurable dining experience.

People need to realize that the worker's image to the customer, ABSOLUTELY matters.

A happy and welcomed customer is less likely to cause issues and more likely to be a repeat customer and that is what you want, when you are a business.

As long as my food is good/correct, drinks are refilled, everything comes in a timely manner, I don't give a shit if you are smiling or not.
