The problem is, he's not responded to anyone's complaints about the HIT to give an explanation, so most Turkers will think he's a scammer or some other flavor of asshole. If he decides to put up another series of HITs they will be avoided like the plague by experienced and knowledgeable Turkers. leaving only the inexperienced and unwary to do them, which will inevitably mean lower-quality results for him.

This highlights yet another element that's important in being a requester: you have to communicate with your workers. If you're going to reject massive amounts of our work and damage our reputations on MTurk, you should provide us with more detailed feedback than a two word "wrong room" type of response.

(This is also why I dislike the whole "Mechanical Turk" branding; it encourages requesters to think of workers as components, as cogs in a machine.)

Yeah: that. When a requester ignores all communications, it's a big red flag that what he did was not a noobie accident or coding error, but just plain old theft of his work force's time and money.

The majority of his hits from now on will be worked by scammers like himself, i.e. the kind of workers who just click at random. He and they deserve each other.

Even before the rejection spree, he was ignoring emails asking him to clarify his instructions.
    So no, it's not embarrassment.

If he won't rescind the rejections, your only option is to find a pile of penny hits posted by somebody who can be trusted and dive in. You may have to waste several days of your life working for that cheap bastard Oscar.

This guy is a jerk. Is there any recourse at all? I know Amazon doesn't like to get involved, but I went from close to 100% to below 99 and now I don't qualify for some of the work. He denied 21 and approved 3 of mine. Ass.

Just an FYI.. he is looking into rejection reversals.

Edit: Sorry guys... evidently this guy is only reversing rejections if you have a TN account and send him a pm. What a nice guy huh? Sorry for all of you who got rejected.

Excellent, thanks for posting. It was about what I expected - sloppy work.

    Yes of course.

But whoever wrote this should have identified themselves or their organization, rather than having readers guess.

Sloppy work? They issued a batch of badly formatted hits, ignored all emails from workers informing them of everything in that blog, and then rejected 40% of all submissions, after which they promised to clean up their act and never do it again, but instead issued a second batch of badly formatted hits and went on a second rejection spree. That's not sloppiness. It's deliberate dirt-baggery.
