I don't even turk until he tells me if a batch is good enough, then I start because I know it's worthwhile. It's amazing how much he causes the dominos of the turk world to fall.

 

Ive never had a problem at mine, but they are independently operated, so there is no real way to say you would have the same experience. I have the 10 buck a month weights and machines only, no tanning or massage chairs. There is no contract and I can quit when I want. The 20 buck a month is a contract and includes the tanning beds and massage chairs and you can bring a guest every time you come. You have to sign up for a year, they dont really explain that well when you sign up. Most people think that all memberships are no contract, so that is probably what you are hearing about. Its not a hardcore gym though, they frown upon hardcore lifters and slamming weights and grunting are not allowed, thats what the buzzer is for. Some dont allow deadlifting and there are no tank tops for men or jugs of water or doo rags. Its not for all people but its really hard to beat for 10 a month. They do have a yearly service fee that is 29 for 10 buck members and 39 for 20 buck ones.

Masters haven't felt a loss, but non-masters have felt the sting pretty hard. Or at least, I've felt the sting quite a bit. I've resorted to crowdsurf ffs

 

Yeah I can see that. I've been hitting my goal quicker during the day than I use to for sure. Night time is still pretty lame for me though.

 

I skimmed through a page of that, and it seems like it really depends on the specific gym that you go to.
The $10 a month that I signed up for was no contract and I was able to cancel anytime without any fees/hassle.
It looks like a lot of those people signed up for other types of memberships without fully understanding what they were signing up for. Some of the memberships have yearly fees that has to be paid at certain times, or have a minimum, or have a cancellation charge.

If you're using it only for cardio, then Planet Fitness is fine imo. Just make sure you fully understand what's in the contract.

 

And I also told myself I'd only thank the most helpful other posts and here I've been giving them out like candy on Halloween.

Yeah they are all different, as they are independently operated and their turnover for employees is really high. I've been a member at mine for over 4 years and its turned over probably 5 times completely so they are probably not the best at explaining memberships. If you get the 10 buck one there is no contract. There is a fee for both though, I think it might depend on who owns it, but they are charged at different times of the year for each tier.
