I'm pretty sure I consider that fraud too!

I'm sorry you feel humiliated. But really, just go get your own ID and work under your own name. Turking is probably not a bad way to start off your new adult life with your own ID and your own bank account.

That is the problem though... this site is for adult workers and not teenage workers. Rules are rules and we all have to follow them whether we like them or not. Using your fathers name and you doing the work (no matter how old you are) is against the rules plain and simple and therefore is a scam.

I think "scam" is a heavy accusation this kid does not deserve. Scam implies malicious intent, and I'm not seeing anything here that implies that. I'm just seeing an 18 yo who does not feel ready to cut the proverbial apron strings, even tho he needs to.

One thing not mentioned is Amazon's hard fast rule of 1 account per person. If they somehow think his old account and new account are linked, they will close both and ban him and his father from any future work.

I understand your point Athena but I also understand mine. It seems that he/she wants to work on mtruk yet does not have the ability to do so as he does not have an id. Therefore, he/she is trying to get around it by using his/her fathers id. The best thing for them to do is to just go and get the id and then there will be no issues. Scam or Fraud whichever term it is given is just not right IMO.

    Yeah, but...

When it comes to kids 16-19 and online work, I understand why they might do it, and it isn't necessarily immoral even if it's legally fraudulent.
    That's all I'm saying.

Sorry darling I missed this earlier -- don't worry, those assholes get their own piece of my mind, but that's not what this thread is about is it? :)

I am going to be mad at this harmless kid, because when does the fraud stop? Since his parents (dad, anyway, letting him use his name to work) obviously are not instilling these values in him, maybe I can. And if he is allowed to do it, then anyone can. And fuck anyone who thinks that is okay -- that's why my best friend who is out of work can't get approved for an mTurk account yet.

Now I have to catch up with the rest of this thread so forgive me if I missed anything that was said after this, I'll get to it. :)

I understand completely. I understand that when I wanted to get a job as a teenager, I had to show up to my job with my ID, not my parents. I had to sign up with my information. I got my checks in my name. Otherwise, I'd probably be in jail right now.

And yes I'm going to be an asshole to anyone that tries to SCAM their way around the process that every person of working age has had to go through for decades. What the fuck makes you so special?

  14. The same thing that makes everyone special ... There teenagers... We were that age once too and thought we were special just like they do :p
