Hey all, I started turking back in 2013. I was in between jobs & did it full-time for about 15 days before I got discouraged, plus I found a job so I stopped. I'm back in the same position again & am back at it, using this forum & other sources to find good HITs. In the daily HITs thread, I'm seeing others post their stats and see that they are making anywhere between $200-$800 a week. How is this done? During my 15-day stint doing it full-time I was only able to submit about 80 HITs per day and would average between $10-$15 per day. I've never really found batches that I can knock out quickly as they're mostly receipt transcriptions that pay a penny each. Do you have to be masters in order to make this? Also, I still have $25 worth of PENDING HITs that are still from 2013. Is there a way to get these shoved through or paid somehow? They're over a year old now & still pending.
I usually average about $5 a day for a couple of hours but I've only been doing it for a month or so. I do a lot of Crowdsource Google searches using a script that makes it a snap. I also do CopyText hits. I do a lot of these to get numbers. I do surveys for more money, although I get sick of them. I am going to try my hand at transcription next to see if it helps. It just seems to me that the ones making more money are a lot more hard core than me. I can't seem to catch on to the lingo and routine that they use.
mojokitty, I feel the same way you do with the lingo. I read the forum every day and conversations are starting to click slowly. I, too, only get about $3-$5/day, although one day last week I made $10. I think the # of HITs is the defining fact of the higher paying HITs. Many say the require >5000 or >10000 or masters, which I believe is 10000 HITS. I'm just shy of 3100 and I've been doing mturk off and on since 2010. I'd love to find that one HIT where I can go and go and go and make a decent dollar or number in an hour. LOL!
Its hard to get used to the lingo. I remember when I first started I was going crazy thinking, whats T.O.? Whats a panda? Just look at the new users threads that are stickied in the general forum and learn what you can. It takes a long time to fully understand the terms. I can tell you that I make around 50 bucks a day from mturk and it all starts with being on this forum and looking at the LATEST posts... also, getting some good browser scripts is important... but start with watching the forum posts (the recent ones from the past 2-10 minutes)
