I swear I was going to bed. Sat down at the computer just to bookmark Monday's thread, and my PMs went off for Comp.Social and I accidentally grabbed a couple of Venue Quality. So when I wake up tomorrow, I'll already have 8 HITs and $1.02 in earnings. Kinda nice getting a head start like that. Good night, all.

Am I nuts, or has anyone else noticed this? I think there is a new “slow down the responder” tactic being used on a few (thankfully, ONLY a few) Qualtrics-based surveys. I believe what I am about to describe is deliberate and not a system/browser/rendering/local problem because: - It only happens on Qualtrics surveys (not Survey Monkey, Question Pro, etc) - It happens in any browser (I have tried FF, IE and Chrome) - It only affects the tab with the survey, not other open tabs or other open apps/programs - Moreover, it only affects certain pages/screens within the survey itself: e.g., text/info, demographics, etc. screens work fine, but bubble or fill-in pages of actual questions do not What happens is this: EVERY browser action – clicking, tabbing, scrolling - on the affected page is subject to a delay of several seconds before it “takes” or “registers.” Thus, for example, every time you click on a bubble, it takes 3-5 seconds for that bubble to fill in and allow you to move on. There are no on-screen timers or warnings/notices that delays are built-in – navigating the screen in question becomes akin to trying to walk through thick mud – very slow, halting and frustrating. Again, because of the above-cited factors, I believe this to be a deliberate tactic to force the responder to slow down and take a minimum amount of time to ponder every action and answer. If it were only one browser affected, or occurred in other tabs or windows, or universally to every page within the survey, I’d consider it to be some sort of local problem. But the very specific occurrences, ONLY affecting the actual Q&A screens, lead me to think it deliberate. Thankfully, I’ve only encountered this on a small handful of Qualtrics surveys. Here’s hoping that if it IS a deliberate tactic now available to requesters, it doesn’t become widespread!
