get an estimate from everyone you can. upgrade the motherboard, the memory, and power supply. might be less than you think, even with second hand parts. using an underpowered computer & slow limited internet really limits some of the hits you might otherwise want to do. don't ask me how I know
I grew up on rock, grunge, and Hip-Hop. I'm not opposed to listening to other genres. I just haven't acquired the taste for country. I'm all ears tho.
I could leave all the technology behind, just give me a one way ticket back to the 70's or 80's where times were much simpler... PLEASE ALIENS BEAM ME UP AND SEND ME THROUGH A TIME PORTAL...
Yeah it cant sustain it forever, but its been true for a very long time now. My guess until quantum computing is completely realized it will remain true. Once computers get close to the processing power of the human brain it will end. Also this: https://scontent-atl1-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...=31a6f874634d0239e1dd5c7f776f26b2&oe=5632F2AF

My last computer lasted 10 years -- 2000 to 2010. I added memory and upgraded the drives, but the cpu, motherboard, graphics, etc made it. Granted, it was getting a bit painful towards the end. This machine has 5 years on it and is going strong. Might add another 8 GB of RAM someday and one of the fans is getting a bit loud, need to replace that. But I expect to get several more years out of it. My monitor though... it predates both machines, mid 1990's somewhere. Yes, it has a tube and weighs about 50 pounds. Anything I make over goal the new month or two goes into a new monitor fund.

Something like http://flash.newegg.com/Product/N82E16824276160 is only $80 and looks pretty decent. I don't know anything about monitors though. Since a lot of people like 2 monitors or devices the size might be a bit small (18.5''). On an unrelated note to your post but relevant to all the tech talk, I kinda want to buy this refurbished laptop for $250: http://flash.newegg.com/Product/9SIA43F2AW1124
