How tall are you? I want to know what I'm dealing with here. I am not tall at only 5'5", but several people have commented on my "looking tall" from a distance, because of slimness. Then, when they get closer, they always say, "You looked much taller from over there." I always find that insulting. 5'5" is good height for a woman, I think, and a good height for Ms. Bennett. A big height differential would work for this couple, although I don't recall her height being mentioned. She comes off as being independent, but she really just wants someone to protect her. Depending on what gas station I'm running out of, I'm anywhere between 6'4" and 6'6". She most definitely would, women like that have a period of busting out of their shell. It's just a matter of being there at the right time. It's been so long since I've read this book...and honestly, it wasn't to my tastes so much, it was more of a "I should probably have read this at some point" type of deal. With that said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with 5'5", Miss Bennet included. It would be difficult to not have a large height differential with me, though.
I edited my original comment where I further elaborate on my height being rather appropriate for the Elizabeth/Darcy relationship, if that matters. Dear God, you are very appropriate for Darcy if you are that tall! Also, I've only known one man that liked Jane Austen books. She is by no means my favorite writer. I used to like her more. She is quite witty, though, which I appreciate. And now, we have exhausted the Jane Austen thing. P.S. Tall men always seem to like me. I think I make them feel "manly."
