I had that happen once. I called them up and it was taken care of. I don't remember the reason but I do know that it was a mistake.

 

I'm not sure if they understand how the majority of Mturkers use the autohotkey scripts. I might email them to explain that the script isn't to automate the whole process but instead allow us to work more efficiently on the tasks at hand. It cuts down on our time solely because we are not clicking the buttons with our mouse or using the arrow keys to tab through them. We still have to spend the same amount of time analyzing each image.

If I believed that the workers on this forum would have used AHK for evil misguided purposes I would have never posted about it in the first place. I posted a tool that can help us with our efficiency and that is all. If someone was just going to blindly mark pictures they would have done it with or without AHK.

 

Decent TO, but all about different studies. This one might be worth it.

Those you know on here might use it in a good way, but others might not. I've seen people ask for scripts for HITs that really are simple enough w/o it. Heck, I use it at work now to help me automate account creation for a web based app.

 

The problem IS that they have seen that happen. They have seen the quality go down and they noticed it when people TOLD THEM they were using autohotkey.

The thing is PRNR use to have these and some other hits autofilled already and they noticed that was abused too. That is why they took them off.

It means there are more people abusing the system than using it to do better work.

Why shouldn't you use it? If it helps with your efficiency. Are you producing crappy quality accounts with the application or are they the same quality that you would have produced in the first place. Even if something is simple, if it is can be made simpler while still providing the same level of quality it should be allowed.

My point about people who ask about scripts that will "mark everything the same and submit" or "can you make something that I click one button" still stands. They're blaming a tool instead of the person using the tool. Shitty quality people produce shitty quality work.

hmm I was going to save it until later, but I'll dive in now and see if it happens to me too.

 

Which makes me wonder if those people were doing the work to begin with or if they just started when the tool came out. The only issue I have here is that they seem to be blaming the tool instead of the persons motives. If someone wrote you a negative PM would you blame the keyboard that the person typed it on? I want them to strengthen their qualification system to get rid of the bad eggs, but still allow the tool that isn't necessarily bad.
