Taking 18 units this fall in the AM, work 19 hrs approx a week, and turk, enough for me right now... but I still have lots of free time usually. I used to wake up early for surveys but now I just do batches and they can come out at any hour so far for me.

Avoid at all costs: "Tag Visually indistinguishable types of cars ", by Vision Group 1. Minimum time to spend is 1 minute, automatic reject if your time is less. 2. Rejects about half of your HITs, makes up a random number that you got wrong. 6 questions, ie 92% accuracy leaves you with 50% of HITs rejected. I'm a car guy, I know my cars, looked them over thoroughly.. it's complete nonsense. Post to page 1. Run, don't walk away from this one. (for what it's worth, over 200 HITs approved at 100% accuracy; 500 pending since Thursday - just hit 5 days of solid turking/ day 13 overall).
Just got two rejects in these... I have 12 in almost 5000 hits submitted. I'm at 99.7% accuracy... was at 99.8%. I did the damn hit right and took my time with it.
Also, complain to him about at least 1 of your rejections. I did. Everyone else needs to. If the average requester graded so strictly we'd all have 30-50% accuracy and mTurk would shut down because nobody would be qualified for anything. (also complaining to mTurk directly).
The only complaints when I did them was the pay... I figured it was slow so I would try one... now I'm 3 rejects in the hole...
From my experience never having a rejection and working for multiple new requester's and bad ones, I will pretty much refuse to do a hit if the directions aren't clear, unless TO is really good. Even if they have 1 negative review and hundreds positive I want to see and investigate their approval style. Like algorithm team who just approved about 500 of my hits, and the TO is perfect, but it doesn't show the truth, and the truth is that they DO mass reject.
Damn, I got 7 rejects from it too, wish I had listened to TO, those are my first rejects since my 2nd day turking.
wow I'm not much of a car guy so I steered clear out of that hit.. seems like I did the right thing o.o
I did 3 to test the waters. Directions were simple. Do the cars look the same? If yes click yes, if no click no. Super easy, nothing to get wrong... except apparently there is. Funnily each of my rejects was in ORDER like you got #2 wrong, then #3, then #4.
I really don't get why captchas sometimes just refuse to cooperate. It'd be one thing to have my account halted because I'm ignoring them, but if I stop to put it in and still get knocked out its so frustrating.
Ya sometimes the directions are clear, but the requester judges through a subjective scope, which is TOTALLY wrong! I block anyone who unfairly rejects.
Sorry to hear about rejects. When I started to turk I got like 10 rejects unfairly. Then I found TurkOpticon and this great forum. That changed my turk life
I have a few rejects I earned... I didn't click an image right on Z-cloud, taking a survey the second time before Hit DB etc... then I have those 3 I just mentioned and a few from MIT Saxe for their "do as many of one color as you want" hits that were GREAT until they randomly mass rejected a bunch of people for "doing the same hits again." Still waiting to hear back from them on those.
