Looks like I missed some excitement today.

No, we didn't say we will never reject anyone. We said we we've been rejecting about 1% of our workers, only in the most egregious cases of cheating, not paying any attention, or clearly not speaking English. 99% of of our workers have had 100% of their hits approved. We do not reject workers for missing a single attention check. But we do reject workers who literally can't even tell the difference between attention checks and actual jokes (not just once, but repeatedly and consistently). Again, 99% of our workers don't have this problem.

Hi, something really doesn't add up here. So far, we've only rejected two workers in this batch out of over a thousand workers who've done our hits. And both of the two we rejected did hundreds of hits each. So if you only did 10 hits, we either didn't reject you (and you're totally making this up), or we made a mistake, which we will happily fix immediately.

Please PM me your AMT Worker ID and/or e-mail us via your AMT account and, if your version of the story is true, I'll figure out what went wrong and we'll fix it. And bonus you for the inconvenience.

Dear God I hope EyeApps don't get scared off like BlueJays. I'd like to think the good workers outweigh the bad and lazy workers.

One time I got over 200 hits rejected by someone I turked for regularly. After many back and forth's where he was sure the work turned in was crap I got him to send me a sample and it wasn't my work. Somehow my work got switched with another workers and I got their rejections. After looking into it he said it was a known issue, though this was years ago, but if it is an issue Amazon is known for not fixing turk problems. So it's possible, though not common, so worth a look into.

Possible as well but if it's real well freaky switches are possible.

Hearsay is magnified by... well, hearsay. The problem is basically the system, though--the only way to generalize good workers is approval (because Masters is meaningless and everything else is just specific quals requesters hand out), and specifically approval of 98%. 98% is actually more effectively 99%, since "greater than 98%" = 99. All it takes is a few rejections to change that 99 to 98, so I'm unsurprised people are worried as hell when they do hundreds in a batch and hear about blanket rejections.

Thanks :) Yes, the good workers far outweigh the bad. We're super happy with AMT and in fact, without it, we simply couldn't do what we're doing. We find that over 90% of our workers give us great, meaningful data. And only 1% are so bad that we reject them. It's important to me that we're totally upfront about our policies and our practices. If this "Swole_Peen_Hammer" user (who just registered this month and has hardly made any posts) is telling the truth, it means either Amazon totally messed something up, or we accidentally rejected the wrong user (which, as far as I know, we've never done before). Because I know for a fact we didn't intentionally reject anyone with just 10 hits submitted, or even within an order of magnitude of that!

I don't want to accuse him of lying just to cause trouble until I give him a chance to contact me so that we can see if something did, in fact, go wrong. If he doesn't follow up, then I'll assume he's making stuff up. If he does, and he's telling the truth, we'll 100% fix it and then some.

Yep, we'll figure it out. I just sent him a PM offering to immediately overturn all of his rejections if he's telling the truth -- plus give him a $20 bonus for the inconvenience. So we'll find out soon whether he's legit or was just (not very intelligently) trying to cause trouble.

Even the name sounds trollish. Well you will find out!

Personally, I dont do the hits but I do find the way you are upfront about how you do things pretty damn cool.

TO drives me crazy, there are turkers grading all 5's for a survey that is an hour long and pays $2. How does that even make sense?

I wish they would tell you the ages they are looking for and if they are looking for male or female before you do it- sure a person can lie but I always take these seriously and wouldn't have even accepted it if I had known. I had to return this one.

Can't do this because my approval rate is too high. I hate when requesters do this.
