Movies, the lifeblood of every teenager and college student. No matter their social standing or financial means, many managed to find themselves on a Friday or Saturday night with friends sitting in front of a large screen with sticky seats, bad popcorn, watered down drinks and clumsy attempts at necking. Often the music they had as a background cover was created specifically for the movie by composers who never created popular music. In the 1980s, this too began to evolve into the monster of bombastic bass and screeching lyrics that make the elderly cower in corners waving their meager canes. The Terminator series had always been willing to pick music that grated on those who came to see it so it came as no surprise when, with Terminator 3, they picked music from a band that had exploded out of a seedy LA club. That band was Guns 'N Roses. Their music, aggressive, offensive, and every bit the mantra of youthful rebellion sparked a sea change in movie music. I'll mention this at some other time when everyone's awake to see it too, but after seeing the thing about tinychat...there's a website that I know of, where we can all basically chat while watching videos. Youtube, Vimeo, the big livestreaming sites. It's a great way to hang out and have fun. The rest of the site can be a bit "Wild West" in attitude - meaning Internet Standard language (ie, horrible, horrible things being said), but I can make a room that's private and just link it here. There are a couple of rooms that I frequent and they're usually a lot of fun. Not the thing we'd want to do when there are batches to be done, obviously. But when it's slow? Weekends? We could have a blast.
