Now is the hit/job going to have the software to do the slow-mo/backwards or is that some other software I would need
short study on social attitudes (~5min) Requester: Adam Waytz HIT Expiration Date: Oct 3, 2013 (6 days 17 hours) Time Allotted: 1 hour 30 minutes Reward: $0.31 HITs Available: 1 Description: short study on social attitudes / pays immediately
software, or you can use transcribe.wreally.com. Most hits you have to figure out how to download the audio file.
Start slowly! First, open transcription HITs and just look at the HITs themselves and listen to those you can listen to. Then, download and study all of the style guides, because each requester has their own preferences. Personally, I suggest starting off with an easy, blank Claritrans, meaning it's blank so you just type bbb into the box and submit. That will get you past your first transcription jitters. Then, move on to CrowdSurf Support. Those are cool because you can slow the audio. Neither Claritrans or CSS are high paying, but they're good to get started on, if for no other reason than to see if you like it.
Oh I figured you knew but it was for the people that may or may not have had their curiosity piqued. That and I wanted to contribute something that I knew instead of the questions that I have been asking. I think that's all I've done on today's thread ~ I like swotor because I can be evil and not have Carth all whiny about it
So the Claritrans can't all be blank can they you just have skim pick through them until you find one
I can do about 120 wpm at my highest, and I can say it doesn't pay well, unfortunately, especially if they want verbatim. Your typing speed probably won't even matter if you run into that scenario, because it will require a lot of starting, stopping, pausing, rewinding, etc. You have to listen and listen to get it. It took me almost an hour to do a little bit over 8 minute interview today (for all of $3) since the person speaking had very good English but very poor communication skills. (Um, you know, um, like, um, and uh, um. She even knew she did and mentioned it.) I like CrowdSurf best, but their HITs load very slowly for me, so theirs require a lot of sitting and waiting. The main thing I do is listen to a bit of a sentence, then press pause and type. Other transcribers like to listen to speech slowly, but I've never tried that. You can start with Redwood to see if you like transcribing. Their HITs to look for are: "Transcribe a Short Audio Clip (~10 seconds)"
Nice website, I did a 10$ 10min trans and a 3$ one at 5min and each was pretty painful at parts. What is a good pace usually ? The 10min one took me about 55min to do
$10 in 55minutes is pretty good in terms of mturking for most people. I normally spend 2x per audio minute, 3x if it's difficult audio.
went from exceptionally well to failing the test in one article at the end i know people all complain about their scores going all around with this requester but i didnt even get to that stage....sigh Greetings from Amazon Mechanical Turk, You've received a bonus from HubPages for work related to 2M998D8J3VE759QZ783G7MCL3CCXH0. The value of your bonus is: $0.25 USD The Requester included this note: This is a bonus for completing the HubPages screening test. Thanks for trying our HITs. Unfortunately, your rating style is a bit different from what we are looking for, so you won't be able to complete our regular rating HITs. (Most people do not pass our screening test.) However, we will probably be introducing new types of HITs in the future, and we invite you to work on those after we create them. Have a great day! Thanks for being a Worker on Mechanical Turk!
