edithosb--did you write your article in an overly descriptive way, as in, did you use flowery language or state your opinion? For some of the subjects, especially the soap opera character ones, it is hard to write an article that's just bare boned facts!

No, I had a pretty substantive piece.

I took someone's advice (sorry not to have retained the name) and contacted ContentGalore. I received a nice reply from Tara, who agreed the article was fine. She also said the comments had been positive, so the reviewer must have made an error.

The article was accepted, and I received a bonus.

I did three more for ContentGalore this afternoon (there was a run on topics I knew quite a bit about). So far, none rejected and at least one accepted.

Thanks for helping a new Turker understand how to handle these things.

    Hi Snook,

I too had a similar experience yesterday. None of my articles have so far been rejected but since yesterday I have been denied access stating I have a -1 Value. I had been assigned a value of 95 (the requirement being 75). I have written to them and i am yet to get a reply.

Snook, were you given access again?

Have any others had this experience?

You have nothing to worry about if you've followed all the instructions mentioned in the hit.

I've heard about a similar case where a worker got a -1 Value, and as far as I remember it wasn't reversed. The feedback sent by them was the worker was submitting writing hits within 10-15 min.

Hope you hear from them soon.

Yesterday I wrote my first Content Galore 200-300 word article on "Lake Trout", and today I see it was rejected. I put a lot of effort into that darn article, and I've never had complaints about my writing, so I'm more than a little surprised their "panel" rejected it.

I think when I realized it took 45 minutes to write an article at a quality I was satisfied with, I decided I wasn't going to work that much for $1.70.

They were probably getting too many poorly written submissions from non-native speakers and thought that restricting workers to U.S. only would help somewhat with that issue. As for the pay for the articles being higher than it is for the summary lists, I believe it's because the length of articles must be 200-300 words. The summary lists can be just 100-200 words. More pay for more work seems fair to me.

Regarding rejections, I've been accepted 95%+ of the time. The times I've been rejected were mainly mistakes on the part of CG or misunderstandings that were soon straightened out with a polite email. CG also gave me bonuses so that I still got paid. Overall, I'm satisfied with them and have made more than $4000 off of their HITs this year alone. My articles typically take about twenty minutes each to write and proofread. Depending on the topic, they can go a bit faster sometimes.

    Hello fellow turkers!

I have a question that I hope someone can answer.

I am pretty new to this, started on July 9th. I have been writing articles for ContentGalore. I've written almost 100 of them and very few have been rejected.

Now that they have cut the reward to 1.70, same as their "Summary of topic list" HITS, I have been doing them instead.

Here is where I am confused. How many words are the summaries supposed to be? It does not say in the HIT, instead is says "answer the question with multiple short paragraphs. "

I noticed that for the HIT to review these articles, it says "review a 100-200 word article" What?? This is unfair and confusing to the writer and reviewer.

I have had articles between 100-200 words rejected (for not meeting length requirement) and also have been rejected many times, same reason, for going over 200 words. But lots of them have been accepted as well. It seems the lack of requirement info on the summary of topic HITS are confusing everyone.

I figured I should keep my articles in the 100-200 word range so the reviewer could see that, but they are still being rejected for the length requirement. I don't get it!

I have written CG several times, no reply yet. This is getting frustrating.

Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks in advance! :)

Content Galore along with many other have started restricted themselves to US and intentionally rejected the work from other countries as well as intentionally downgraded them to -ve values. Which is unethical and shows narrow mindedness of some people as they feel that higly qualified overseas workers may overlap the average US workers.

Okay, first of all, until recently CG was paying $1.70 for both summary lists and articles. In the last few weeks, they have sometimes offered $1.90 for both types of writing, and at other times offered $1.70 for both. I haven't yet figured out why some of the work is priced at $1.70 and some is priced at $1.90. Today, many of the summary lists are $1.90 while the articles are $1.70. Okay....

The summary list HITs do not state a length requirement in total words. However, in the HITs where people are paid ten cents to check over the work, it says the summary lists should be 100-200 total words. That's what all of mine have been, and they are usually accepted. You also need to have the proper number of paragraphs (3-5) and proper number of words per paragraph (50-75). If you submit a summary list that is 175 words but contains just two paragraphs, it will almost certainly be rejected. If you submit one that has three paragraphs of twenty, sixty, and fifty words each, you'll probably get rejected because of having the tiny "twenty" word paragraph.

I've never been rejected for going over two hundred words.

Now, the "articles" are different from "summary lists." "Articles" should be 200-300 words. Make sure you're not getting mixed up and submitting "articles" that are under this 200-300 length requirement. Of course, their requirements could always change again. Sigh.

CG has been frustrating a number of people lately. I've pretty much been doing okay, but have received the occasional rejection that has not been clearly explained. They also have not replied to my recent e-mails asking for clarification.

Jack, I rest my case. There are so many grammar, capitalization, and punctuation errors in your post that it's hard to count all of them.

Sure, it would be nice if CG allowed competent non-native speakers of American English to do their HITs. But hey, maybe they had too much trouble finding any.

Reading the posts here, it's quite apparent who is the loser. Way too lame excuses & remarks, BTW.

Thanks for the reply. It makes sense and I think I was not doing paragraphs properly, sometimes only having 4...

I finally heard back from them.
They said overall my writing is great and the problem was I needed a little more detail in some of my articles. After having over 11 of them rejected in just a few days, it really F'd my approval rating, but they paid me through a bonus for articles that were rejected, gave me the article reviewer qualification and I have written over 50 articles since with not one rejection.

    Glad this is straightened out!

This post was meant for the user who, I suppose, is now banned. So there.

Anyone with e-mail experience with Content Galore--

How long did it take them to get back with you? I had 1 out of 6 articles rejected today ((my very first rejection, awww, ha ha)) and so I contacted them to ask why.

I'd just like to know the window I should be looking at for a return response before I start feeling sad about it. *g*

The response time can be anything from a couple of hours to 2-3 days. But recently they haven't been so good on communication. Did your article meet all the requirements?

Most common reasons for rejection have been using '$ or &' signs, abbreviations and recently there has been some confusion about word length requirements.

I'm not sure which article it was for (since I did 6 of them today, and I don't know if there is a way to check on which one it was specifically?), but I *am* sure that I didn't use any symbols or abbreviations in any of mine. The HITs were called "Write a 150-300 word original article!" and all my articles rounded out at somewhere in between both of those limits.

Hopefully I'll get a response tomorrow, maybe it was just a mistake. :) I mean all of them were approved but the one, so, it really could be anything I suppose.

    Thanks for your reply!

CG has not always responded to me. When they have, it's taken anywhere from 1-6 days. Let us know if you get a reply, and why they rejected your article.

    Content Galore

I am becoming so frustrated with this company. I am an American. I live in Texas. I have the right % to be able to write for them. I have the right qualifications. Ever since I took out $170.00 from my account earlier this week almost everything I post to them is being rejected. I am working very hard and the original ones went right through. Most of the money I earned was through this company. Now almost everything is getting rejected. I have sent them numerous messages about this. I have not gotten a single answer. I get the message that a fellow panel.... Any ideas what is going on?

I have not had any problems with ContentGalore. All my articles have accepted though so I have not ever tried to communicate with them. Hope you guys get your issues straightened out!

I love ContentGalore! So far, all of my articles have been approved.

I have a question: Do you dock articles for British spelling and usage? For example, "Specialised shops, such as chemists, carry medicines".

I don't know whether ContentGalore minds, but I personally don't dock articles for British spelling and usage.
