After turking non-stop for a while, how do you "reset"?

Do you just take a day off or is there something that helps you get back into the swing of things?

Or do you take regular breaks?

I'm trying to find the best turking strategy. :D

It's hard to work non-stop because it's hard to find regular work other than Oscar. I was hoping that things would start improving with almost 1700 approved hits, but it's still tough out there.

Most week days surveys are pretty easy to come by.

i go non stop on many batches throughout the day.. i take regular breaks to watch my favorite show or an episode of something mind numbing lol.. but when i get to the point i don't even want to look at mturk i will take a few hours off when it is slow.. that way i dont feel guilty for not doing batches because i know there will be something there later.. last night was a great example foe me.. i couldn't turk if i wanted to so i closed the laptop and watched 4 hours of my fav show.. came back and was ready to go :) you just have to find out what works for you by trial and error

You can relax by checking out Crowdflower ridiculously low paying hits. The height of misery that Crowdflower and other miser requesters show on Mturk will make you laugh so much that you will fall off your chair. Keep your camera on while you check out their hits, it might make a good YouTube video.

Surveys and batches that I haven't already done are very hard to come by.

    i've been wondering this too

i just took a half hour to call my dad and i got my new keyboard, so i think that's improved my attitude for the moment (until the rejections start rolling in from this morning anyway)

i haven't been turking long but one thing i try to do, more when it seems slow than when i'm burnt out which i'm only starting to experience, is i have a video game that i can play in short bursts, right now i'm playing unreal tournament 2004, so i can do a match here and there without getting too absorbed in the game, and there's a bit of catharsis involved in running around and getting to shoot things in the head in between hits. if you don't play video games some other equally noncommital activity might help, small short chores and such

i do see eventually needing to take a day off here and there, i'm not quite ready to do that though, i can't stop thinking that any time i'm not turking i'm losing potential income, sleep unfortunately included

I think the type of break you need relates to the type of hits you do... i stick to strictly batches so i can gauge how fast one is being worked on by how fast the hits go.. if it sits there for awhile then i know it is safe to take a nap.. but if it is a batch i know many people love, or if it is open to foreign workers, then i tend to stick it out and work until they are gone then take a nap or a tv break.. but for people who do a mix, or just surveys i can see how not turking makes you think you are losing money.. essentially you are..

As long as you don't become apathetic from it, taking a day off does wonders for the brain, preferably on the weekend when not much is going on. Footballchick's strategy is also great... really there's one right choice, it all depends on how you work and feel.

Just don't think of it as "losing money"!! That's sure to stress you out even more and defeat the purpose of a break :p

Where are all these batches? I quickly run out of the available Crowsource google rating/url hits. The others(including the ones I am supposed to get emails about, but don't) appear to be mainly at night. If they appear at all.

I can't sit and work through the day...I have a little one at home. ;)
So "breaks" are easy to come by in my house hahaha

(That's why my performance/goals are so low...BUT it's still helping with Christmas! :D)

not just porn hits.. there are lots of batch hits available throughout the day, just depends if you want to do them or not.

I never seem to have burnout risk issues when there is actual good stuff to do: accomplishment is my drug, and working on AMT has pretty much proved I'm willing to trick to get right :)

It is when there isn't anything engaging to do that I start feeling crappy about it. Sometimes when I get like that I just screw around - read Wikipedia, listen to music, chat, watch quiz shows, whatever, until I feel like working again.

HTH, and happy to see the return of the dinosaur - it is my favorite.
