:D Hello Everyone! I'm the newest newbie feeling my way through the mturk jungle. I haven't yet figured out the forums and where the best place is to post random questions so I'll start here... My first question is about transcribing receipts. The kroger receipts have a blank for UPC codes but the actual receipts don't have this information. I didn't accept a hit for this but just played around and "practiced" with it for a moment to see how easy it would be to do it. When I left the UPC space blank it said it was a required field even though there was no data to transcribe here. Has anyone figured this out? OR can you tell me where I should post this question in the forum?
Thank you so much for your help!

    Hey there!

I'm pretty new too, but I think sometimes requesters put up hits that don't have complete instructions or don't account for errors like that. You'll get glitchy ones, like survey that says you need to include a code from the end of the questionnaire that then don't give you any such code, hits that won't load, etc.

I haven't seen the specific one you're talking about (you can link to hits BTW, which might help when you have questions like this - you'll see people talking about "panda," that's the URL from the page where you can "preview and accept" a hit, hence > "P and A"). Honestly, not all of them are set up great, sometimes it's better to just skip them. But being able to use your own discretion about which hits you do and do not want to accept is one of the bonuses of doing this, of course :)

As for where to post, I'm newer to these forums than anything else, but it looks to me like there's two places people ask questions; there's the 'General' subforum, but people also ask questions in the current daily thread (up in 'Great HITs') and I've seen people say that you'll get answers faster that way, so I don't think it's really considered 'derailing' or anything to post a question there. Hope that helps! :)
