I agree. I think as a whole, mturkforum is quite hardcore about not discussing surveys. I think the difference with this HIT was that it was not clear up front that it was considered a survey. It had a different appearance than the vast majority of the standard surveys we do here so it wasn't obvious that this was a survey. Had that been more clear from the start, I think a lot of the chatter about it would have likely been prevented.

As for me, I was cut off (while NOT idle) and would have liked to continue. I was in the middle of clicking dots and something popped up to thank me for my work and I was directed to the exit survey. I'm using Chrome version 26.0.1410.65.

I guess I missed the part about a 60 second timer in the instructions. I am sure that is why I was cut so short on this. The thought of actually helping chart the universe was compelling. I'm one of those who enjoyed doing this so much that I could have spent hours and hours on it. However, a person does need to get up and move from time to time; get a cup of coffee, go to the bathroom, deal with whatever is going on around them.

I agree. Apparently I didn't do well on it even though I tried my best, took my time and was on the task for a long time. More examples would be great. I did mention that in the feedback.

More examples would definitely be great. I did the HIT but like a few others I quit after a few minutes because I wasn't sure I was doing them absolutely right and didn't want to continue.. but I would love to do them once a week they were really fun to do.

Thanks for your comment, given what we are trying to study, we didn't want to make this HIT obviously appear to be a research-type of task, although you probably would have realized it if you read the consent at the beginning. It seems like that may have backfired a bit and I will consider explicitly asking people not to discuss it with others in the future.

The timer is longer than 60 seconds. 60 seconds is just the amount of time you have before the timeout warning shows up and the task times out.

Hi, is this HIT designed to end on it's own? Mine ended as I was working on it, and I wasn't idle or anything, it just kicked over to the end questions. Thanks!
