I generally put up a "thanks" when a hit is particularly valuable. I think when you post that many in a row, people will end up just clicking through all of them to snag what they can and may forget to actually thank you for your time.

I love that people post hits. I haven't posted any yet (because I am a terrible person and everything always seems to be posted before I wake up!), but I think people on here appreciate the postings.

I was looking through the "hits" thread and I notice if there's a single hit that's buffered by other random postings on either side that it will very likely have a few thanks attached to it (especially if it's one that's high paying, quick or helpful for numbers). But ones that are posted in a big line don't get the same attention as people are just going through that big list of posts to see what surveys/batches/whatever are still up for them to snag.

There's plenty of people on here who post hits that they either haven't done, are not going to do, or can't do.

I don't know who you are, but if you're not new here, you would know that that's what I do. When I'm actually working and doing hits throughout the day, I don't usually take the time to post hits cause I don't search for them. So, to make up for it, I take an hour out of my day to just post for others. It's my way of giving back to others for all their hits posted.

Again, I don't need pos rep, nor want it.

I couldn't care less about rep. I judge people by the quality of their posts. A little green or red bar means nothing to me. I've been pos'ed and neg'ed, sometimes for the same post. Mostly I just use rep on others to send a quick, fun message without having to send a PM.

I do like the 'Thanks' system, though. It helps me give a quick thanks to people who post a good HIT, provide useful information or make me chuckle. This cuts down on the spam in the Great HITs thread where before I'd have to reply with "great HIT, thanks!". Again, the numbers themselves mean nothing to me. 'Thanks: XXXX' and 'Thanked XXX times in XXX Posts' are as relevant as the number of Posts someone has made.

Rep system is garbage. I just posted this in today's forum before I saw this:

Today - I got "That is a terrible survey," negative rep from posting a 10c/min survey that someone didn't like.

Don't pay attention to it. It's a way for cowards to give neg. rep since people can't view who did it. If they want to continue with the rep system, make it so we can see who gives it to us.

I think the majority of MTurk workers are geared towards efficiency. Clicking a Thanks button is simply more efficient than clicking the Rep Star, clicking approve or disapprove, then, optionally, leaving a message. Just like this forum condenses many great HITs and helpful info. into one place, when I click thanks on a post, it condenses all of the good things I might have said about it into one efficient Thanks.

I use the Thanks as a thumbs up button, which I guess is sort of what it is, but I usually think of thumbs up buttons in a different way than thanks. I usually wouldn't thank somebody unless they were giving me info that was new to me. Many people will post something I already know or agree with or like. In such a case I might give them a thumbs up, but I am not really thanking them.

Im new here but I have a suggestion... if others are complaining about you posting TOO MANY good hits, then stop posting them and just PM the hits to me. :)))

Every forum has people who act the ***. Sorry that happened to you

I only post hits from a good TO requester that I have done so I can ensure it pays 0.10+/minute. I have only been repped for funny comments and thanked infrequently.

Seems like the important rep on here is Junior Member, Member, Senior Member, Verified Leader. These seem proportional to the number of hits you post whether they are any good or not.

I asked for my rep to be removed after some dumb ass comment a few weeks ago. For me, it's worthless and I'll just click thanks.

Not really. Junior Member, Member and Senior Member are based off how many posts you have. When you hit 100 posts, regardless of what they are, you get Senior Member.

Verified Leader is new and appears to be handed out at Andy/Rob's discretion.

I asked Rob to change mine to "Don't Blink". :p Kind of like Rob himself is "The Lion" and Cowfin is "The Swimming Cow".

I only lurked on the forum for the longest time. I decided to post recently, and got negative rep just for trying to be helpful; I really don't get people. To me it seems like people can give negative rep simply because it's anonymous and they don't like you. I just wish you could see who is giving you the negatives. You would think they would try to help a new member out or at least PM them if they had a problem, but I guess not, they're pretty trigger happy with negatives.

I approved of your post. I have one positive and one negative reputation. The negative one is from a half-joking comment I made about enjoying being unemployed. I'm not getting unemployment checks. It must have really hit a nerve with somebody.

Lol, ouch! For me it was because I posted a survey and posted that there was an attention check in it, which I didn't know was bad because they do it on the Mturk reddit all the time....and the other was for posting information on how to do some batch hits specifically a certain way, which I didn't know any better either, but deleted after someone quoted my post and called me out on it. As for yours though, that's pretty stupid, they must have just been jealous. I'm unemployed but actually make more on Mturk than I did at my job, which was why I quit.

You have the option of not having reputation at all, it seems. Razorbacks asked for that. He cannot give rep nor can he receive them. You just won't have any bars at all, except clear ones.

I don't even know what the hell you're talking about. What is this rep thing you speak of? And if it's based on what you post and judged by your forum peers, what is the point, really? While I'm here I might as well ask what the big deal is on sharing information about how to do hits faster/better/smarter etc.? We're not in some contest--it isn't about fair (if it was, the requesters would be held to the same standards we are-they are NOT) and it's not a community per se. We are all self employed subcontractors, responsible for our own taxes, our own hours and the quality of our work. I don't understand the need everyone has to treat mturk like preschool. this is the real world, Jack-get what you can any way you can unless you want to make $2.00 a DAY for the rest of your lives. Be honest, but be clever. Mturk isn't set up for OUR success. amazon doesn't make money off us, therefore we're on our own. Any of you that want to share secrets with me on how to make better money etc. you can PM me anytime. I won't tell. I'm all about working smarter-not harder!
