It's about those pesky [?] and [sp] tags. Because it is, indeed, easier to put them in *after* the word or phrase you were unsure about, the style on those is going back to having them be after, not before. That's right: please put [?] and [sp] after the word or phrase they belong to, not before. The word from CW is that for now, graders will be mentioning this when grading transcripts that come through but *will not downgrade* for not adhering to it. Once it officially gets into the online guide, though, they will start expecting all transcribers to put the [?] and [sp] after. So the sooner you make the change in your work, the better off you'll be. ETA: CW says some transcribers are feeling unsure that it's OK to make the change now. Yes, they are confirming it really is. More details in my blog post on the subject, if you like.
Had a good grader mention that they should go before... didn't know where he was coming from. I'm glad he was right-on. They should mention that it is a Style Guide change, though; he didn't.
It makes more sense to put them before, but it's easier to type them after. I think that's why they are making the change. I think it'd be harder to grade with them after, but whatever. At least they are looking out for the workers transcribing!
