    Hi,

Is anyone on Unemployment Insurance and doing HITs? Are any of your earnings deducted from your benefits? Is Amazon reporting our earnings to the IRS? If not, at what point will they? Any and all information regarding how we are taxed would be appreciated.

Amazon is not reporting your earnings to the IRS. If you earn more than $600 from one requester, that requester is required to send you a 1099 form so you can report your earnings.

How do they get your name and address? I thought everything accept your Amazon ID number was supposed to be anonymous to them.

As soon as you submit a HIT for a requester, Amazon provides them with your name and email address.

I don't know if they provide your address and other information, since Amazon sends the 1099's now, not the requester.

Ok, I looked it up on their website. I think it must have changed since people used to be so concerned about requesters we didn't know, and can literally be anybody with a credit card number in their hand, and were told we were anonymous to everybody except Amazon. Nothing we can do about it now if we want to work, whether we are concerned or not.

Do a search for "taxes" on this forum and you find a lot of information on this.

As for UI, you likely have to report all income whether Amazon reports it or not, you should check with the UI office.

I wasn't asking about UI requirements, I am very clear on that (all income is supposed to be reported, though you can avoid it if it was under-the-table money not reported to the IRS, hence this post asking if mTurk is under the table..)

From all the reading I've done up to this point, I understand Amazon to not be reporting my income until I reach a lifetime of $20K or a single requester has paid me over $599.99. Anyone believing otherwise or with experience with UI discontinuing them for not reporting wages even in these circumstances please post
