It's not my skin we're talking about, I assure you that it's thick enough for such as you.

What I was addressing are the linguistic and cultural assumptions necessary to follow your joke. I know that "A Modest Proposal" is not a treatise exposing Swift as a sadistic cannibal, because I am literate. I read your joke and am literate, yet no similar realization jumps to mind.

I could write some paragraphs about female leaders through history but instead I'll just say: Yekaterina Alexeevna

It was lazy and said nothing. It reminded me of something my father would say, or repeat off of The Rush Limbaugh show. I do not mean to say such rude things, but you did continue the conversation.

 

Other than my most recent post where I said people need to get thicker skin, I've never even assumed people to be overly sensitive.

 

I'm a woman and I didn't take offense at anything you said. I could see it was meant as a joke and if others didn't then maybe they need to lighten up just a little.

 

I was not offended, I just thought it was historically ignorant, and even presently ignorant. Angela Merkel has been doing a fine job (if you like her politics) for a decade now, and people do not speak about her as they do of Hillary's potential presidential run. Though perhaps they do not know who Merkel is.
