INteresting. If you want to know what the Photomod tasks were all about, this 2015 NPR show talks about them in the first couple minutes: https://soundcloud.com/nprs-planet-money/episode-600-the-people-inside-your-machine (the entire show is pretty interesting)
In some ways the new TO seems as dubious as the old. Especially the requesters with only a few reviews. Seems the only reviews are people bragging about how fast they did the survey. "I did it in 5 minutes and made $20/hr." "Oh yeah, I did it in *4* minutes and made $25/hr." Then it takes me 20. I mean I know I'm a little slow on surveys, but I'm not THAT slow. That plus the fact the new TO site keeps logging me out and most requesters don't have any reviews there anyhow means I rarely bother looking.
There's always a reason for someone to lie. It could be someone who posts high paying surveys nearly everyday so to squish the competition they could lie. It could be they are just being a random dick or don't like the requester for an invalid reason. I still think TO is more reliable than not but I also rarely let it affect my decision to do a HIT or not.

Greetings from Amazon Mechanical Turk, You've received a bonus from CeDEx - Nottingham for work related to 3NCN4N1H1GU74CS9V6EJVLTDWKVBNR. The value of your bonus is: $2.00 USD The Requester included this note: On Tuesday 19 September 2017 you participated in one of our HITs. You had to rate how appropriate certain behaviour is. Your ratings are now matched with another randomly chosen Mturker who also participated in that session. If your ratings matched, you earn $2.00, otherwise you earn $0.01. Note that this bonus payment comes on top of your guaranteed participation fee of $0.50, which will be paid separately. Thanks for being a Worker on Mechanical Turk! Sincerely, Amazon Mechanical Turk https://www.mturk.com Stunned that I got the $2.00 as I recall when I was taking it I was certain it wasn't going to happen.
Tonight? You know that fun days are Sundays.... when we don't have to run day! (hope I got those lyrics kinda close)
I guess it was a dumb question. If anyone was doing something fun, they wouldn't be on here to read it.
