requesters *can* use those quals, but it is very very rare. I think I've only see submission or abandoned rates used as a qual MAYBE two or three times in the past 2 years. I wouldn't worry about it--it is MUCH better to return something or let it expire than submit something that's not right and have it rejected!

I haven't had a block in a while, but I'm pretty sure the block message says "The Requester (Requester Name Here) has chosen to prevent you from working on any of this Requester's HITs.
There are a variety of reasons for Requesters to prevent particular Workers from completing their HITs."

I can't remember what color it's in though. I think the red message is when you try to accept a HIT in a batch that someone else just grabbed. Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about blocks unless you get multiple emails from Amazon about blocks.

Sorry if this has already been covered. I didn't see it. What's the deal with HITs paying .00? I thought maybe there is a per item bonus lie on some lowball HITs, but I don't see any mention of it.

I think those are for specific people to compensate them via a bonus for previous hits they did that may have had technical issues, etc.

soem are, some are not. in general this HITs are dummy HITs for people who had issues with something. For example a survey was done by a worker but he was unable to submit it due to short timer. The requester adds now .00 HIT for this worker to pay him. Other options are work outside of MTurk but Payment made on MTurk. Some people give work not in a HIT but per mail, after you successfully did your job you submit it and get paid via MTurk. To identify the correct person you have to submit a HIT. Next option is compensation for follow-up surveys. Usually you get notified per mail about a HIT created. Now you can work either in a standard HIT or directly go to the survey. For the later option you need a way to compensate workers. Therfor you create a HIT to submit.
There are many other options, but i think i gave you a good impression why requesters pos .00 HITs

p.s. some requesters are idiots and hope for free work
p.p.s. sometimes thos HITs are just for testing the requester interface

    for the life of me I can't figure out how to add the hit export for Chrome. I want to be able to share hits to the forum but I have no clue what I am doing ;___;

If someone helps me I'll send them virtual cookies ;)

I have not used a forum since 1996 and am drowning in trying to figure out how to catch the posted HITs before they go dead after wading through a sea of conversations and gifs. This is my first post and I have no idea how I will even know if someone has replied. Whew! Being new is exciting.

welcome to the forum, don`t be shy to ask any questions you have :)
for a better forum experience go into the settings and change Number of Posts to Show Per Page to something 20+. this avoids having too many pages of gossip and gifs

Yep! Still can't figure it out, hoping to read more into it this weekend when I have more free time. Trying not to let it drive me crazy but it's a bit annoying not being able to post hits found on the forum in the preferred method.

i was wondering how to file taxes for mturk, and if there was a certain amount i have to make before i have to file.

i've found many different answers for the this, some say after $400 in a given calendar year, some say after $600.

i also was wondering how to actually go about filing the taxes, does amazon send you a form to fill out, or would i have to do it my self?

as fars i get it, you have to do nothing. mturk is considered as "Federal Taxes, Wages & Income, Explore on my Own, Less Common Income, Miscellaneous Income, Other income not already reported on a W2 or 1099".

Is there an easy guide to the CrowdSource transcription HITs that would make them seem less daunting?
