I saw in the daily thread that some of you are saving to build a PC. I was wondering, for those that are planning to build, or have built recently, what your rig will look like? I've been saving as well, and I'm getting pretty close. I haven't built a computer in ten years, but you can do better than a 1TB HDD for only a few bucks more. SSD is nice though. My first build in 2000 was a 750Mhz Athlon with a 40 GB HDD, CD R/W, floppy disk (HA!), and 256 MB RAM! My first computer, a Tandy 1000, in 1982, had a 4.77 Mhz processor, no HDD, 512K of memory (512 K if you missed it). It ran on MS-DOS. It did have two floppy drives, A and B. For some strange reason B got reserved in eternity as the backup to the A drive. Didn't even know there was a C at the time. Go figure.
I remember the Tandy! I still have my Atari 800 , I don't remember the specs on it but it has a tape drive for storage. I used to start loading a game, go for a bath, and come back and wait for my game to finish loading.
I actually used some turking money to buy my 7950. Now i'm just trying to build a small htpc. A10, mini itx, nothing too fancy : 3
