I did crowdsurf a lot when I first started. The problem with them is how much everything varies. Back then, a year ago, they were too all over the place in grading your hits and being really strict. It didn't hurt me (in fact I was made a grader and probably still am one) but I heard of many others getting too low a score to work on crowdsurf hits anymore, effectively blocking them from working their hits, from doing it well enough but then the grader just being dumb and randomly severe, like taking off points because they didn't like where you put a comma or started a sentence. So even though I got good grades, I had to work even slower to make sure I'd pass and the per hour math got worse and worse. Even if that's now fixed, there's the other thing that the audio themselves vary so widely in quality. When they're good ones with slow, clear single-person speakers they're actually pretty awesome, but so many aren't like that and often entire batches were bad ones. After awhile I just got tired of the variables and dealing with the sucky ones.
HAHA! I haven't done too many, but I quit when I got a super low score on one where the grader changed what I had typed in, put in something else and marked it as a guess. And then the dispute thing wouldn't work. ETA: Recently.
Yeah that's my problem right now..but I literally can't find anything else with a decent rate. I can do the 8 cent productrnr ones when they're around, but it usually takes me like a minute and half at least to do those and they don't approve hits for a super long time. I've got like $40 dollars sitting in pending, a lot of which is from them. Other than that I'm not really sure what's left..tried the P9r ones and most of them are pretty bad too. So what do you guys work on in between surveys and such?
Many of us wait for good batches, which often just pop up out of nowhere and you have to be ready to jump on to whatever it is. This may be the slowest I've ever seen mturk over a few-days period though so I'm even getting tempting to try some crowdsurf or receipt hits. I would just wait til Monday when things will hopefully pick up again but I need some money asap so here I am trying to squeeze some pennies out of thin air on the slowest mturk weekend of the year lol. If you want some hits to always be working on and you're doing ok at crowdsurf then just keep going with it. Anything that's always up like crowdsurf, receipts or whatever isn't going to be that great.

I've done so much copy text i'm starting to say the words outloud and pronounce them in an accent lol
I enjoy doing CrowdSurf. It's steady work. In the five months I've been Turking, there's only been two or three days where there was no work. The base pay is shit, but the bonuses make up for it.

Evening everyone. Glad I didn't miss a whole ton of good hits. My baby boy *sniffsniff* turned 13 today, so we had my brother and his family over for what felt like forever. Also, FWIW, I've never done a Crowdsurf HIT and have masters. With very few exceptions (Alegion real estate), I won't do a HIT that has a shitty base pay with the promise of a bonus. Too many requesters have been known to "forget" and/or use creative accounting to screw people out of their bonus, so if a HIT isn't worth doing for the base pay, I won't do it.

My birthday is in a few days. January birthdays are the best birthdays! And I'm pretty sure that I've never done CrowdSurf either. I know that I've never counted on requesters paying bonuses, lol.
Way too much writing for me at the moment. I will say that Crowdsurf is the only HITs that I do that I even really consider the bonuses and count on them. More often than not, I would get approved and get the base pay + bonus for the time before it had been graded and I was always able to do enough to get decent bonuses (weekly and Happy Hour) and keep my score high even when there were a few random BS grades. Their communication and dispute process suck (non-existent), but I always got my bonuses and they matched up with my own records.
