I'm not in favor of Hillary, but Trump is objectively not in favor of equality. That's all I'm going to say about that.
Neither she nor Trump have had consistent policies on advocating for equality. But one of them has a major trust issue and it's not Trump... Also, the Supreme Court has ruled definitively. State initiatives (largely related to employment discrimination and transgender rights that aren't marriage-related) are issues for some Americans, but that's really a state's rights issue (in the eyes of conservatives and libertarians at least). So marriage is not on the table. In the beginning debates, Trump clearly stated he disagrees with the the Court's ruling, but he would undertake no initiatives to change that. It's the "rule of the land" in his words. Now, this was before he surged in the polls. Since he's a more viable candidate on the national stage at this point, he probably will shift his position yet again. Who knows. What I do know is that he has actually implemented pro-equality initiatives when they were not popular. Unlike Hillary who jumped on the equality bandwagon once she realized it would help her get votes, donations and speaking engagements.
She has her skellies, too. But his history with this shit goes way fucking back. I've heard about that "hiding employees" scandal before.
Hey now! As a libertarian who's not crazy, don't go dragging us into this shit. We told y'all what was up 12 years ago.
12 years ago? Which candidate does that refer to? Edit: The section of my post you're referring to references states rights, which are the hallmark of any true conservative or libertarian. I only extended that application to social issues. But a true Libertarian would do the same. We could ask Rand Paul but not any more.
No, he's got a sense issue. Trump Compared Opposition To Same-Sex Marriage To Disliking Extra Long Putters In Golf. At one point, he compared his opposition to the legalization of same-sex marriage to his reluctance to use a new kind of putter. ‘It’s like in golf,’ he said. ‘A lot of people — I don’t want this to sound trivial — but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive,’ said Mr. Trump, a Republican. ‘It’s weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can’t sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist.’” [New York Times, 5/2/2011 ] http://www.hrc.org/2016RepublicanFacts/donald-trump He must smoke some good shit to be able to come up with that.
Total Equality would never work. Its been like this for pretty much recorded history. Theres always got to be top and bottom. ying and yang. high and low. its nature.
This is funny. I'll agree with you on that. To me, his statement reads like what someone who doesn't truly know what to believe about an issue would say when forced to speak about it. It makes no sense. The problem with Trump is that he is such an incredible speaker (usually) that it's hard to grasp what he really feels. He can spin anything. It's a talent. But it makes you wonder just how much he truly believes some of the things he says.
lolol I'm starting every political debate with people from now on "Well you see, it's like these new long putters in golf..." He's said some outlandish shit, but that might be my favorite.
