In the rpg i'm making (that is a recreation of the pokemon tabletop I had, and will be free due to copyright stuff), the main person is chosen for you, but you have free reign on what to do. It's only pokemon by graphics and such, but you will have freedom in a sense (you can punch npcs, gamble, etc.) Of course, if you punch random citizens, you might get punished later on...
Yeah, I getcha. It's just my own personal preference to be able to have more of a say in who the character is. I come from a tabletop background in RPGs. It's hard for me to get past the idea that somebody else is making my character for me. A predefined protagonist is antithetical to what I think about RPGs.
I'm curious. Have you played Planescape: Torment? If so, what did you think of it? (I consider it basically a JRPG, but done by westerners.)
Well, since this is based off the pokemon tabletop campaign I personally DMed, the main character is based off one of the PCs. I had about 5 or so to choose from, and I chose the character that had a grudge against one of the npcs since it seemed more entertaining. Remember the trial in chrono trigger? That happened in my campaign, from the fair up to the boss battle (though in this case, it was a torterra genetically fused with 3 trapinch heads) In theory I could have a character selection, but I'm mainly using this rpg to teach myself rpg maker in a more advanced scale so I can create another rpg that I can sell (and will be linked to the visual novel I am creating as well).
Many years ago, yeah. Played through it. Love the Planescape setting, loved the game, but I admit, it is also the genesis of Chris Avelone thinking he's too clever by half. The endless praise for the game and it's subversion of CRPG tropes has lead to Chris making some really dickish RPGs later (see KOTOR 2 and the way some deicisions are handled as just a way to slap you with 'lolz rpgs r dum'.) Torment itself remains a classic game. The Nameless One is defined by your decisions in game, and his lack of identity gives you plenty of room to fill in your own. However, he is still a pre-defined, in terms of previous deed and actions, protagonist and that still goes against my preference. I recognize the game as a masterpiece, but not one that perfectly suits my tastes either. Not everything has to anyways!
wassup bruhs? Y'all have made me rich over the summer and its about time I give back. I don't know shit about AHK but I made this for it and I'm doing the web Peter hits at $30 an hour now. It basically cuts all those illuminati video links into a few seconds each. Code: Numpad0:: Send {click}{Down}{Down}{Down}{Down}{Down}{Down}{Down}{Down}{down}{down}{Tab}unrelated{tab}{Down}{Down}{Down}{Down}{Down}{Down}{Down}{tab}unrelated Numpad1:: Send {click}{Down}{Down}{Down}{Down}{Down}{Down}{Down}{Down}{tab}{Down}{Down}{Down}{tab}{down}{tab}{tab}{space} Example: Click the link > See Illuminati > Click unchanged radio button > Click the first drop down and hit 0 > Scroll to second drop down and hit 1 > Submit
I have nothing work-related to add, but... Jorn Lande is awesome! One of my favorite vocalists ever, maybe absolute favorite.
Originally I created that area as a reference, but later in the campaign it became one of the central points that blew their minds xD
