Can't Find Great HITs? 08/06 Friar Tuck Tuesday

Where are you at now for numbers?

I can give you some pointers, it's nothing you can't find by searching around the forums, but I'll give you some steps to take and links with relevant information. It's up to you to put in the effort and no amount of guides, tricks, or scripts will change that. Do your best to limit distractions and stay focused during batches. If you're not using Chrome yet, make the switch. There are alternatives for firefox but they don't work the as well in my opinion.

First, make sure you have HIT Database installed. If you don't, install Tampermonkey and then install HIT Database (Chrome + Chrome Fix) (after first install make sure you "update database.")

Next, open a notepad document. Then, check your requester overview for your most profitable requesters as well as those that have helped you numbers the most. Paste the Requester ID and Requester name into your notepad doc. (the requester ID is found in the requester overview from HIT Database, or by searching the TO site.

Now take a standard requester search URL which looks like this:

and replace the requester ID in that link with the first Requester ID on your list. You have now created a search link for that requester.

Click the Page Monitor icon and choose "monitor this page." Next, right-click Page Monitor and choose "options." Change the name from "Amazon Mechanical Turk" to the name of the requester. Then, click "OK" to save the name change and click the "Advanced" box. Set the "Check Interval" to whatever you wish (lower interval for faster moving HITs, higher intervals for HITs that will stick around for a few minutes). You want to stagger your check intervals so that Page Monitor isn't performing too many searches too quickly, or else you'll get false alerts constantly.

Repeat for the rest of the requesters in your notepad doc, and you'll be alerted as soon as they post.

You can also use the Golden Requester List I've put together to get some ideas of requesters to watch for. I've already provided the search links so you can just click, monitor, rename, and set check interval.

Next, take a look at the "Andaccept Trick" and make use of it to fill your queue at the end of batches. You can also combine this with a reloader to grab HITs that are expiring/being returned after it seems like the batch is empty.

Finally, get some sleep and wake up at a decent hour. Most of the good work is posted between 8am-2pm EST with the exception of the occasional good batch or survey.

Learn to utilize your queue, picking up long timer HITs to work on for after the current batch is gone.

Get a decent monitor (or two), mouse, and keyboard. It can make a world of a difference.

Don't be afraid to work on mediocre paying HITs when it's slow, that .05/min is earning you something until the next good thing pops up, which is better than nothing.

If you can't even find mediocre work to do, look for quals, quick surveys, or read through the requester section of the forum to try to line up future work.

Finally, learn how to turn off the forum/reddit/whatever other distractions you have, and search for HITs yourself. It's too easy to miss good HITs cause you were dicking off in another tab.
