To be fair the entire system needs an overhual. While the majority of requestors at least pay you far too often they pay what is effectively slave wages (yeah! 2$ an hour! Whoo!) or scam you (random university kids). To is an offsite tool that helps avoid this, but it's almost pointless now that requestors themselves will power flag bad reviews to keep thier score high(and example is brelig, how that guy isn't all red by now is beyond me). Other problems include finding hits (The UI is garbage), the qual system not having any kind of universal connection aside from stupid shit like adult qual(seriously you have to be 18 to do anything on the site anyhow, who is this exactly for? Super Jewish prudes? 16 year olds looking for porn?) and general off-handed ness of Amazon in dealing with both it's workers and requestors. Actually I remember someone here said they were staringa site for workers by workers...wonder what ever happened with that. Anyway, i'm not even beginning to scratch the surface of all the problems with mturk.
Erm... we could order pizza, share a beer or a toke (depending on your state) and laugh a bit. Would be funner than culling through Mturk searches looking for virtual cans to recycle...
I live in discount Detroit, AKA Cleveland. Also on some days(fridays) you're better off searching for cans IRL. All the houses here have recycling bins run by the city, often I see folks out on fridays coming to the scrap yards loaded with shit in thier "Extended borrowed" shopping carts. I think my best day doing that was 140$ bucks(found and entire rusted engine block that day), but my body can't do it anymore, not with fucked feet and knees.
Do you get scammed by university studies often? I've done thousands and never had an issue, let alone thought one was scamming me. Every problem is a result of not understanding rejections or blocks or encountering technical issues and they've all been fixed for me. As for TO it's useful to check for survey times and rejections/blocks but I don't know why anyone would use it beyond that. The UI is certainly dated but between TM and hit scraper it's almost too efficient. See: things being available for seconds at the most. Sure wish they gave us blocking features like those extensions offer, though. Not sure what you mean by universal connected quals. And a lot of people like the adult content qual because it offers up a disclaimer/warning. Keep in mind that a lot of people here have kids and such around while they're working and knowing for the potential of adult content can be helpful... Will definitely agree with you on not liking the hands off approach of Amazon with the platform.
