Yep, I was saying 10-20 seconds per joke, not per hit. But again, those are just average figures. I'm definitely not saying we'll reject you if you go a bit faster than that. I just wanted to give people an idea of what's typical. If you're a very fast reader, it might be possible to do some of the hits (7 jokes) in 40 seconds, but I do think that's a bit borderline in terms of really being able to appreciate some of the longer or more subtle jokes.
That's a great question! The answer is either approach is totally acceptable. It partly depends on your own personal rating scheme, but we're really not that picky. The important point is if we give you a sentence that's not in any way a joke, we're hoping you give it a relatively low score compare to how you rate other content. If you generally things on a scale of 3 to 8 and you give a not-funny sentence a 3 or a 4, that's great. If you're stingier with your ratings and you rate almost everything from 1 to 5, then I'd hope the non-jokes would get more in the 1 to 2 range rather than the 3 to 4 range. Does that make sense? I also want to highlight the fact that we review every worker and you don't have to stress out about this stuff. We've definitely never come close to rejecting anyone because they gave a calibration non-joke a 3 instead of a 1! In fact, we totally recognize that someone might occasionally laugh at one of our non-jokes for whatever reason. In order to get actual rejections, a worker has to raise a whole series of red flags, and, as I said either, either not understand English or seriously not be paying attention to what they're rating.
