We love it when a requester comes onto the forum and talks with us - we always learn from each other. And in the spirit of learning from each other -there is something that you have said a few times that has rubbed me the wrong way - and I am probably a bit overly sensitive about it "for people whose primary goal is to make as much money as possible". Like many of us here and on mturk in general, I turk for necessities, this is a real job to me. I need the money I make here for things like groceries and utilities... My mturk earning help me make ends meet. So, I understand your stance as a business to pay as little as you can, but we are a workforce, we deserve to be paid a fair wage. Not asking for minimum wage, just a fair wage.
It's just so soft and fluffy. I wish that my other more acceptable body hair was as full and fluffy as my pit hair. WEIRDDDD.
I thought of you when I saw it but I didn't know if you were online or not. ETA: and thanks for the little guy's name! I found the videos.

Well, you're transcribing it, so there's a chance it would either be posted by the full audio wherever that's hosted, or it might be in the metadata on that page, so if you save the text you're transcribing you might (depends also on how much the Crowdsurf editors change your transcript on the way to the final) be able to Google that stuff in a week or two to find what it was.
Was gone all day. Just saw eyeapps here. I'm glad he's in here being honest about the situation and in my opinion there are a lot of requesters that pay less and don't give a rats patooty about us.
Thanks for your candid feedback. I definitely understand your point, and I should clarify that when I say "make as much money as possible," I don't at all mean that in a derogatory way, or to imply that there's anything wrong with trying to maximize income. In fact, quite the opposite; I am well aware that many mturkers rely on mturk revenue to supplement their incomes out of necessity, and perhaps some even use it as a primary source of income. The last thing I intended to convey was a sense that someone who doesn't think our hits pay enough is greedy or materialistic. If I were looking for hits primary to feed my family or pay my rent (e.g.), I would probably avoid rating eyeApps jokes, because we admittedly don't pay well enough for that! As far as a "fair" wage, the truth is that only you can decide what's fair. Some people might like our jokes enough that they would rate them just for fun, without getting paid (indeed, millions of people read funny stuff on the internet without being compensated at all). For those people, we're paying them more than we "need" to. Other people want to make some money and enjoy doing it, and for those people, our hits are a great fit and they find our compensation to be very fair. Still others (very rationally) prioritize income first and amusement second (if at all), and for them, we might not pay a "fair" rate. But since we're not coercing anyone into rating our jokes, nor misleading anyone as to what we expect, I don't think we can be justifiably accused of being unfair. So thanks for your honest feedback, and I hope I haven't offended you or anyone.
IIRC Nanaki said he might not be able to make tomorrow's thread. edit; http://mturkforum.com/showthread.ph...IPS-Saturday!!&p=697557&viewfull=1#post697557 yuup. I'd like to make it if nobody else objects.
Sadly, if requesters had to pay us a fair wage, this place probably wouldn't exist. I think most of them realize that they're getting a hell of bargain from us. Aside from paying minimum wage or below, they don't have another 8% of payroll taxes to cover, not to mention State Unemployment. My State Unemployment is now over 6% because I had to lay off 90% of my employees last December.

That's ..brilliant. Why didn't I think of that? It's how I find quotes I can't quite recall and song lyric information. Apparently I need more sleep.
Can depressed fish do eyeapps HITs? I have a feeling I'd mark "not funny" for 99% of those. Once in a while I might encounter one that makes me exhale through my nose slightly harder than usual.
