As we learned earlier today from Humans of mTurk, you should always be afraid of sharing.

Perhaps. But there's a lot of discussion on the forum that's not work-related, especially during the night shift. People post about their lives, and the details aren't always pleasant. Or else it's something more humdrum, like Game of Thrones. Some members may not care for one topic or the other. I think it's best just to ignore it and move on, as the conversation will most likely shift within a page or two anyway.

I can only read every third word, and another third of english cognates, and another third of imagined cognates from bastard Latinized tongues. By the end of the sentence I understand everything.

good thing the Internet can help me here.

"To ravage, to slaughter, to usurp under false titles, they call empire; and where they make a desert, they call it peace."

    ...little extreme, don't you think?

"Because they didn't know better, they called it "civilization," when it was part of their slavery."

I don't. I hate that when I could have been learning it in high school instead I was flirting with the people I flirted with, but, well, seventeen-year-olds. What can you do

I actually corrected a friend's Latin grammar homework once. I never told him just how hard I leaned on the dictionary to do it, and the next time I saw him he was happy with his grade, so...a good thing that gamble turned out well.

This all reminds me of the Borges short story "Funes el memorioso" that anyone with good friends would have had recommended to them.

Anyone here have an Xbox One? If so, is it worth the upgrade from a Xbox 360?

If you have it connected to a big screen TV then it's really good as a media player and the graphics will look amazing. If not, I wouldn't be in a big rush to buy one.

There is a certain edge to some subjects that it is wise to keep on the right side of.

I do not think the majority of us here object to off-topic conversation in general, it's just...

hmm. maybe once the story prompt/lit discussion room thing comes to pass, there can be somewhere/sometime to have That kind of discussion. although I'm not sure whether that would make it easier or harder for people...

maybe for you. Chrome has this neat thing, though, where you hit ctrl - plus and the text magically gets bigger.

    paper books don't do that.
