I'm confident everyone here is skilled at mturk, but for those just reading, it's okay to reach out to requesters. I did it four times this week and each ended well. 1) It wouldn't submit and I reached out immediately. I also got literally lost in the shuffle that was payment. It worked out, but that's because I kept in touch. 2) A hit that was 50 cents, but in everything else said $1.00. It was quick and easy and 50 cents was fine, but letting them know about those discrepancies is a thing they thanked me for and have changed moving forward. 3) A study that had a far too short timer and it expired before I hit the button. I was paid and gave advice, as being rushed isn't good for anyone. 4) I was kind of a jerk when a hit said it would take X amount of time and it was double that. I was irked and gave feedback about my time not being appreciated. I got a bonus, probably because guilt, but I like to think it's going to make them make wiser decisions moving forward. The moral of the story is requesters are willing to work with you, but also don't put up with nonsense.
I've done that. Then there are some that won't even reply or simply thank you for reporting the issue and do nothing about it. I had one that rejected me for a qualification HIT. I explained to them why this isn't right. No response.
It's an icky lesson to learn. Our work is good and I don't like being taken advantage of, on any level or on any platform. Block said requesters. If they don't care about you, they don't deserve your input/work/data. Being reasonable and fair is not a hard ask.
