A pair of tiny birds have decided they want to make a nest in the wreath hanging on my front door. The cat is crouched in front of the door, staring intently up. He's been there all morning. Every time they alight on the wreath he jumps up and smashes into the glass. You'd think they'd remember the giant cat that keeps terrorizing them and stop coming back, but you'd be wrong.

You'd also think the cat would remember that there's glass in the way and it's not going to be able to catch those birds.
He knows it's there--he has to, because the glass on the front door is mostly fancy/schmancy frosted glass panels in a web of gold latticework. He just wants to kill those birds so much he doesn't care how much it hurts to smash into the door. He keeps launching himself at it, like a fur covered cannonball. ETA: I used to have a hummingbird feeder attached with suction cups to the glass of the back door, but he did the same thing, and that glass wasn't reinforced with metal strips. Had to remove the feeder for fear he'd shatter it. I always thought he was so mesmerized he forgot the glass was there, but now I'm thinking maybe he just didn't give a shit.
