    Hello,

I am a graduate student from Carleton University conducting research for my Master’s thesis. I have posted a brief HIT titled “Perceptions of Responsible Gambling and Change (Phase I)”, and am looking for any gamblers on MTurk that would like to participate! The survey is about how gambling behaviors and perceptions of the self change over time, therefore I am hoping to re-contact everyone 3 months and 9 months after completing this initial HIT.

This HIT will take about 15 minutes, and you will earn $0.25. I am also offering a $0.75 bonus for completing the 3-month follow-up survey and a $1.00 bonus for completing the 9-month follow-up survey. Both follow-up surveys will only take about 10 minutes. I will also be granting a $1.00 bonus for people who complete all three HITs. Therefore, for 35 total minutes of your time, you will receive $3.00!

I appreciate the responses I’ve received so far, and hope you will consider completing this HIT. Please know that your participation as well as your responses will be strictly confidential. If you have any comments or concerns, please let me know. Feedback is always welcome!

Completed your survey and look forward to your follow-ups. Did a thorough job and it was only 12 minutes. 25¢ Is low, but taking in the additional participation incentives I feel is worth it. Although, if I win the lottery (the big one) I don't know if I'll be around to do your follow-ups :)

I would like to thank everyone who has completed my HIT titled “Perceptions of Responsible Gambling and Change (Phase I).” Your efforts are greatly appreciated! However, I am still looking for more gamblers to complete this HIT, so it has been extended until August 29th. If you know of anyone in the MTurk community who would be interested in participating, please pass along this HIT!

As I mentioned above, there are three sessions to this HIT. With permission, I will re-contact workers to participate in a brief follow-up study 3 months and 9 months after the initial session. I understand that compensation for the initial session is low, but I am hoping that the follow-up session rewards and the bonus reward will make up for your time and efforts.

This HIT is unlike other HITs in that I am looking for the same individuals to participate in each follow-up session to gain valuable insight into how gambling behaviors change over time. In addition, if you have any suggestions of how to make this study or future studies more enticing, please let me know. Thank you for your time!

Just did it, the only complaint I have is so much personal information at the end is a little offputting. Do you really need my phone number and real name? I honestly left my number blank and gave an alias instead of a name, so it's not a huge issue, but others might dislike that.
