I have been working in the medical field for 9 years and have taken Medical Transcription however, I have never used it since they always ask for 3-5 years experience. I do have my certificate and if you don't use it you lose it. Are there test for newbies? I realize that I have to take a qualification test. Does anyone know if it's one test for beginners and experienced regardless of levels? Thanks for your help. Have a great week!:)

I can't remember if I had to take a test for Casting Words.. it's been a long time. It's probably just a two-click-qualification. The real test is adapting to the behavior of the people grading your work.

I would suggest doing 1 or 2 hits to the best of your ability and then signing up on the Casting Words website. Then you'll be able to see how the graders & editors decided which parts of your grammar and style weren't to their liking. It'll take a few days but eventually the full edit of your work will show up.

It's been a while but I seem to remember there was a test and that I thought it was super easy. If you've done transcriptions before you'll probably ace it easily. Heck, if you can speak English and spell you'll probably ace it.

But yeah, what OldMilwaukee said about signing up for their website. It's way easier to see their list of live hits there at http://turkers.castingwords.com/hit/list

And you can see your grades with (sometimes) a link to the final edit at the feedback page:

They don't have a lot of medical type transcriptions coming through, but they do show up sometimes. (And sometimes they're the better paid transcripts. Yay!)

I do my best on those, but I have to Google a lot of stuff to get the spelling of drug names and such.

It seems like over the time I worked for them, I had a while when I had a good worker rating so I could work on all the hits, then it went down for a while so I couldn't do the expedited ones, then it went back up, etc. This was frustrating at times but I just keep checking the final edits and trying to adjust to how they want things done. So don't be surprised if you encounter a kind of settling in period.

Friends: Thank you so much for your all your replies. It helps a lot. I tried at MT online but they wanted experience. Has anyone here seen any typing, or data entry besides Oscar Smith's? Hope you all have a great week. Thanks again.
