So I'm confused on this and I'm not sure what the proper next step is... I've received an e-mail in my e-mail inbox and it looks like this:

    "Greetings from Amazon Payments.
We appreciate your use of Amazon Payments. Unfortunately, we have been unable to confirm your account information. This may be because you failed to respond to our past requests for more information or we could not confirm identity information provided by you.
In either case, we are now required to restrict your Amazon Payments account features.
We apologize for any resulting inconvenience and appreciate your understanding of our need to take this action.
Please sign in to your account and contact us should you have any questions about our need to take this action.

This email regarding your account was delivered to you by Amazon Payments. To view our Privacy Policy go to https://payments.amazon.com/sdui/sdui/about?nodeId=6020"

This is a bot - message, yes? I am contemplating on sending them back an e-mail asking what it is that could not have been verified. Should I take that step? Then if I cannot solve it by e-mail then I would suppose I have to give a call. What should be my steps exactly? Please if you could offer some insight then that would be of great help!
PS: I don't know why they are unable to verify me. I've provided every information which also includes SSN. What exactly more do they need? Is it because I've never filed taxes (never held a job)?

Yes, I think it's because you've never had a job before. I work part time at my college and I've never filed taxes either (don't get much back)...but I still get w2 forms. I dunno. I read somewhere that you need some kind of tax history.

I'm currently going through the same sort of nonsense. I've been unemployed for a while, but I still file taxes (I do have income, just not work income), I've called Amazon but the customer service reps are utterly unable to give me any info as to what's going on. So my Amazon Payments account is kaput, along with my 3+ years of turking.

Hey thanks for coming over to this thread to pitch in. I've read and communicated w/some mTurk users about some users getting verified & turking w/out a tax-record so I know that you actually can turk w/out a tax-record. Amazon is just inconsistent. I'm considering faxing some of my records over w/an explanation but I'm not sure what would happen if I do. Phone-calls seem to re-direct to this very-same situation.

Thanks for the reply. Did they just closed off/suspended your Amazon Payments' account? Did you have money in it? How did your account survive for three years w/out a tax-record b/c it seems that this verification thing was a thing quite a while back so how is it possible that they let your account be active & yet close/suspend off others who don't have a tax-record or did you go through the hoops that non-tax-record people went through (verification processes)?

Yup. Closed it right down, even though there's money still in it. CS says that I should be getting an email "soon" about how to get the funds out of there, but I'm not hopeful. Like I said, I DO have a tax record, it just currently isn't tied to, for example, a W-4. The only thing I can figure is that since I moved, my current address does not match my previous year's tax filings - though, this is SUPER common (people move all the time), so if this IS the hiccup, I'm annoyed. I found a thread in another forum that may be helpful to you, I can PM the link to you, if you'd like.

The verification process is all very hush-hush, in the interest of security - I entered the same info (address, SS#, etc) as everyone, and they run it through the same checks, I just don't know, specifically, what those checks ARE. I'm hoping that this will be able to be resolved with a few faxes and some standard proof of address.

Same thing just happened to me and I have been using my Payments account for over 3 years. Got married 2 years ago and thought I had changed my name on everything. Amazon Payments ask me a week ago to update my acct info so I did, then a few days later it got disabled and said Unfortunately, we have been unable to confirm your account information which is required in order to utilize our service.
We regret we will not be able to allow your account to transact in the future. I have filed taxes every year, just with my new husband the last 2 years. I just transferred money about a month ago from the Payments acct to my checking acct but now all the sudden I cant use it anymore. I have called and emailed them several times and they act like there is nothing else they can do, basically telling me I am screwed. I am going to fax my Drivers license, marriage cert, tax records ,ss# to them anyway and demand they restore it. Its totally ridiculous and they are very hateful and unhelpful!
