Edited to say if this is in the wrong forum, as I think it is, please -to the admins move it (and sorry).

    Hi:

I have two questions. One is that I'm looking for average hits where I can rack up some statistics.

At this point, I've been doing this for about 10 days. I've earned close to 100 hits. I think it's mostly been in surveys - though I did a few for crowdsource (then they mysteriously went down in pay - huh....).

I have no qualifications because my numbers are so low. I've looked at some of those transcribe this receipt, but the requestors don't have great reviews and it looks like a lot of work. I'd do it if that will get my numbers up, though :).

Suggestions? Like everyone, I'd like hits that will make money. But even if it's just to get my numbers up - I think that will help me in the long run. I think the work improves a bit if I can get up to 1,000?

The second question is about transcription. I can type about 50 words a minute with no mistakes (more like 60 or 70 w/errors). This is not fast in the world of transcription, but I'd make more money if I could do transcription.

Will I pass the test? I have great grammar and proofreading skills - so it would work out fine (for them and me :)

    TIA,

    Jan

    Yo Jan,

ProductRnR has some hits you can do that are okish. Usually people like the **** ones. They are great number hits. Another one to do is Crowdsource's URL Hits. The eight cent ones. Have you done those? After that it becomes harder to find "OKISH" hits. I think SCROLL lab has hits that are ok too but you have to pass a qual test. Not too hard I think.

If you really want numbers badly Oscar Smith does approved in thirty minutes. They do suck though.

After passing one k it does get a bit better cause some requesters put hits up in that amount. Five k is the "good* one to shoot for. Hope this helps.

When I first started in November, I did p9r. Lousy pay for the work, but lots of available work. Tagasauris, too. For transcription, the SpeechInk home inspection are pretty easy to get qualification for. Also, Claritrans and Crowdsurf.

411Richmond. They approve within minutes. They are easy, just make sure you don't cut any corners with them, as they claim to reject and block.

The lowest approval for those 8penny crowdsource ones are still 200 approvals. I'm still shy of that by a lot! But it's good to know so I can aim for that soon (hopefully this week).

I get why folks what people to have a track record.....but honestly, you'd think they could just give you a trial hit (imho).

Thanks also for the heads up about 5,000. That seems a very long time away at the rate I'm going :(

Yesterday I took about twenty of those VLab things. Easy - and they were very nice and they approved fast. But not exactly a windfall.........

Can my 50 odd wpm qualify me (I can type a bit faster, but not with accuracy). Frankly I like to type 60 or 70 wpm and not worry about the errors (I can always fix those :).

I'm afraid to take the test because I'll come up against real transcriptionists - and just not qualify and blow my chance.....

I'm so scared of rejection! I go pretty slowly at this point. I'll open those and check. Thanks!

Honestly, I've stayed away from the transcription. It just isn't for me. I type 85+ wpm. I can do this great while typing directly or copying text but when it comes from having to dictate from audio I'm screwed. I just don't do as well with it. But if you dictate audio well then your typing speed should be fine.

I have to do something to bring in a lot more money. And this seems the best way to earn a sort of salary. I need 50/day (every day) to be close to stable and what I've been doing isn't close.

I've read terrible things about the quality of the audio....it's a bit intimidating. But I'm not sure what else to try. Just picking up survey's won't cut it and my approval rating won't go up high enough for weeks and weeks (at this rate).

    SIGH........

But it's good to hear that I'm in the ballpark for typing :)

I'm just about in the same boat as you. I type reasonably well, but when I tried a trial transcription, the first speaker mumbled with a non-American accent. I believe I could do well with a mumbling American accent. The second audio speaker I listened to talked so fast, I imagined he was in a hurry to make it to the restroom. I don't have a foot pedal (I don't know the correct term) so I can't stop and start the audio without my fingers leaving the keyboard.

I haven't given up, though. I will go to youtube, open notepad, and practice. That's the only thing I can think of to train my brain.

I've been taking two penny and up hits to raise my hit count. I feel I need some cushion for when I get rejected on harder tasks. I started mturking a bit over a week or so ago. It would be nice to set a goal of $50.00 a day, but my expectations and needs are much lower. I do have other income and it's from something I would do for my own entertainment anyway. The mturk was just an idea to pay for updating and adding to that need/want.

Best of luck to us all!

If you people did 100 hits a day in your first 10 days of Oscar Smith Hits, You accomplish two things, you build your numbers with no rejections. you get 1000 Hits in a week. Bingo and then you can move on that way. That is what I had my dad do. He is well over 5000 hits and he started 10 days ago. Now he does 500 Hits a day, with ease and it is not by doing surveys. He searches the way I have taught him and he finds work and bingo he makes decent money like 30 a day.

I've never tried his hits because I saw so much controversy about what to include in the receipt (coupons or not coupons). But I should look at it again.

Thanks! I'm only at about 300 - and it's not for lack of being at the computer (it's because I am - as you say - doing mostly surveys).

How do you have your dad search for hits?
