Hi - I'm Graham, and I'm new here. I've been signed up for MTurk for a little while, but have done relatively little on it until this week. I realized pretty quickly that it was all a little overwhelming and mysterious, and figured there had to be some info out there from existing users. That's what led me to this place. I've lurked for a few days, and picked up some HITS from the thread that lists great HITS, and that's been great.

My primary business is as an online tarot card reader, and I'm looking at MTurk to productively fill in time when I'm not doing readings.

I see there is a lot in the way of scripts, etc., to assist turkers, although I haven't tried any yet. I did install TO, which has been very helpful so far.

Is there a good thread or other resource for complete beginners? Something not too overwhelming with advanced info?

    Thanks,

    Graham.

Thanks for the welcome! There look to be a ton of scripts, but I have to say that a lot of the descriptions leave a lot to be desired, so it's difficult to tell what some of them actually do!

    Graham.

    That's true.

This link is all the scripts and they do have descriptions on it. The ones that don't, click on the script and the next page will describe it more in detail. That should help. It did for me.

I think that even the descriptions given on the scripts can be confusing to new Turkers, with little knowledge of the terminology. I'm sure that, given time, it'll make sense to me.
