Hi, I want to introduce myself, I'm new here on the forum, and MTurking. I'm not sure exactly where to start Mturking for a newbie. Got any ideas, please share what you did that got you started Mturking.
Definitely read through the forum. The Greatest Hits place is a good place to find "better" hits and commentary about what people know about the requesters... I found that initially, I thought "0.02" a hit? That seems low! However, you'll soon realize that if you can do 10 hits a minute (for what is called a "batch" of hits), that's $0.20 a minute * 60 minutes=$12.00 an hour... A few scripts are really helpful: a "Hit Scraper" helps to see more hits at a time quickkly. "Turk Opticon" helps to weed out hits that take way to long to do or get paid, (or if the requester is not responsive to your questions.) First goal you should make-- try to get to at least 500 completed and accepted hits-- after that point, you'll start seeing better paying hits... Also, getting some of the "Qualifications" (which, from what I gather, can be quite a random process.) That will help, too. There are some that you can search for and qualify for... such as: English (or whatever language you may be proficient in-- I look for requesters with many people who have the qualification, and take the test, so that if others are looking for that proficiency, it will show up under my qualifications. You can look for Quals for things like age, gender, location, etc... some will offer a "test" that you can take... And, I haven't done any yet, but it looks like getting a Transcription test is also a way to get higher paying HITS, too. Good Luck!
