I'll be posting in roughly 22 minutes
Oh, no. He will be in 22 minutes.
Thanks guys. Had to run out for a bit and feared for the worst lol
Seems to be problems with the current batch. It's saying "Task not available."
It's already dead
It said there was 600+ up when I started getting the msg though.
Never saw any indication of any OCMP34 batches posting today.. are you sure?
Yeah it was at like 622 before he loaded the batch up.. been like that since that huge problem the original ocmp34 had in late may
Yeah there have been like 614 or something that have been broken for a long time and cannot be removed.
Yep I got in something like 11.
Makes perfect sense why those are up then.
I think I saw it get up to 300. It seemed to add them into the 612 dead ones. So maybe only 300 new hits?
OCMP did say today would be a small batch, I guess.
Managed to catch one URL finding HIT today...
Was that it?? How many were posted?
I'm not exactly sure, it didn't look like the bugged batch even moved, though.
I didn't even notice those posted. Only way I figured out URL hits were up is I noticed find list of donors was up and figured the other had to have posted earlier.
Hello guys, just going through the last few batches. Unfortunately it seems like some person (or persons) is either scamming, being lazy, or is just plain incompetent. I'll be messaging them next week to figure things out and hopefully these were just errors and not someone trying to take advantage of the situation. I am also worried about how fast the HITs are getting eaten up on the get go. These are batches of 1000 non-profits and the general scuttlebutt here is that they are going fast which makes me suspect someone may be gaming the system.
I bring this all up because I would like to start a general discussion here and would greatly appreciate your guys feedback. It is important to me that the people that want to do good work are given a fair chance to actually get work. It is also important to me that I get good results (obviously). So let me know what you think, should I be more vague when notifying you guys when I'm going to post a batch? Any other comments or suggestions?
Each worker is allowed to stock 25 hits in the queue. Have you known this before ?
Ah, to be truthful I did not. So the 1000 HITs going with-in 10-15 minutes is normal? The number of workers on one of the last batches was slightly under 40 so it would make sense if each person queued up 25 HITs
1000 hits or 1000 non profits? 3 Non profits per hit. I have seen last batch extended upto 950+ from 630 around,, which apparently 300+ hits.
If 40 workers did 10 hits each, the batch will be last for 10-15 minutes.
Cool yeah my bad it's 1000 nonprofits in blocks of 3 so around 300 and some change HITs. Thanks for clarifying, just trying to be the best OCMP_34 I can.
By the way, when we can except some large batches? ocmp34 once said we have one million non-profits to be completed in 3-4 months.
Yeah for a known requester it is pretty common to immediately fill your queue thus making the hits disappear very quickly.
If I may ask what has been the rate of found compared to N/A for the different types of batches, trying to see if I am performing worse then I should be or if I'm doing fine. Also on what batch type were you getting scammed was it on all the batch types or just a single batch type and if just a single which type.
Yeah so the plan is that as I get more of a handle on this i'll be posting a lot more smaller batches (hopefully a few times a day Monday-Friday). The time line isn't set in stone and is dependent on a lot of things. Trust me though, when I hear solid concrete time line plans you all will be the first to know.
Are you talking about found homepages or found donor lists and extraction? As for the scamming, on the NTEEE batch I found 3 donor lists that someone said couldn't be extracted when they definitely could. They didn't leave any notes as to why they couldn't extract it so it seemed suspicious. It was just on the NTEEE batch but I would prefer to nip that behavior in the bud. With that batch we were only able to return 41 donor lists links (out of 1000), of which we got 36 extracted lists. With those kind of numbers 3 missing donor lists that could have been extracted out of the 41 is pretty important.
It's pretty obvious that this has been happening since ocmp34 starting posting on this board. There are a lot of turkers who browse this site that can barely speak english, and a lot more who are extremely lazy and are looking to scam you. Right now there are 313 people with the ocmp34 curated qual. This is ridiculously high. The person who came before you made a TERRIBLE decision of even coming on this board in the first place. You're going to have to do a lot of pruning if you want to get actual results. When I received this qualification, there were about 65 people with the qualification, and I can guarantee that the percentage of found donor links was almost as high, if not higher, than it is now.
I don't even try to do your hits any more because they are gone in the blink of an eye. Maybe there are too many people with the qualification <shrug>
While I agree that workers who are doing these HITs illegitimately should have their qualification reveoked, but at the same time you have to keep in mind the type of work this is. I often spend the suggested 2 minutes on donor list extraction HITs, doing multiple google searches and browsing multiple sections of a non profit's site and I still come up with nothing a lot of the time.
At this point, I haven't even been bothering working on the HITs because of how many people are doing them.. I'm lucky to get 5-6 before they're gone. I just don't want to risk rejections of a qualification revocation because a lot of these donor sites don't have donor reports. If you really want people spending more time on your HITs and looking more depth, I'd increase the bonus pay for each found to actually make it worth continuing on searching.
Yeah the problem isn't in not putting in enough time to find the homepage. The problem is that a donor list was supplied and the worker did not take the time to copy, paste, and format the list and then still submitted the HIT as done. I'm taking your guys suggestions into consideration and will report back. Also I plan on putting up 4 batches this week, 2 tomorrow and 2 the day after.
I agree with this sentiment and want to add my two cents. In the beginning, it was awesome. The good turkers were actively helping OCMP34 weed out the scammers/lazy people. I was doing a lot of the extractions, and everytime I saw a bad link, I would put it in the notes, so that OCMP34 could investigate the turker that put the bad link there, to see if it was a pattern, and if so, revoke his qual. He was able to remove a lot of bad turkers this way. He/she had a good group of workers, batches would last 1-2 hours, a lot of extraction HITS, was making pretty good money.
Then reasons unknown, OCMP invited tons of more people in. Now, the quality control got really bad again. One of the reasons I could tell is that the Find Donor List HITS went down extremely fast. Obviously, people were not spending that much time on them at all. As a result Extraction tasks were a lot less than before. It looked liked to me that the Find Donor List job was being scammed to death.
What to do? I don't really have a good answer. The Find Donor task is a very subjective task. Trimming the bad seeds out of the qual is a good start, but I'm sure that's very time intensive to do.
The find donor task disappearing quick is not a good indication that people are scamming. He said he had 40 workers. Assuming each of the 1000 he posted needed to be found that equates to 500 hits so 12.5 hits each. If even half hoarded, a 45 minute timer means it would give you close to 2 minutes each for a full queue and they would be gone with basically no time passing. The time they disappear is not the time they are completed.
