Well I promised RwStein I would do a write up for this last week, but it has been a long busy week! So here is all the information you need to know about using Page Monitor and it's advantages and applying them to Mturk. I know some of you may already know this information, if you do skip over it, if you don't you may find it helpful.

Note if you set up Page Monitor correctly you can completely eliminate searching for work throughout the work day which can save you hours of searching daily.

    What is Page Monitor?

Page Monitor is an extension that can be added to your Browser in order to monitor activity on certain selected pages.

How can this be helpful to us as Mturker's?

Page Monitor functions similar to TurkAlert. With the exception Turk Alert sends emails to you which can cause a major delay. This can cause you to also miss many great hits while working throughout the day. Rather then emailing you, with Page Monitor you can receive instant alerts on your Desktop while your turking with a functioning pop up window.

    Installing Page Monitor
I only use Page Monitor on Google Chrome, while running my other browsers Extension Free. The link to the Page Monitor extension is:
    https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/page-monitor/pemhgklkefakciniebenbfclihhmmfcd?hl=en-US

**Note there are several other Extensions that do the same thing, but I've had much better luck with this one then any others**

How does Page Monitor Work and how to set up Page Monitor.

It's simple! After you install page monitor, you will then see the Extension at the top of Google Chrome. If you return to Mturk, type the requester who you would normally search for in the search box of Mturk, as if you were looking for work from this particular requester. Enter the requesters name in the search box and click enter. After you search, whether there are any jobs posted or not it does not matter. You will then click the Page Monitor Extension tab. After you click on the Tab, a box will pop up. Click the third option in the bottom right corner that says Monitor this page.
Repeat this to all of your favorite requesters. Note, in between adding each requester, it's very helpful to name each requester by their name. This way it alerts you who's posting jobs throughout the day. To do this, right click the Page Monitor tab at the top right corner of Chrome > Options Tab > Rename. Next you will want adjust the settings of Page Monitor. Again, right click the Page Monitor Tab > Options. You will then want to change the interval check time to one second. After changing this, I suggest you enable desktop alerts and sound alerts.

    Hope this helps!
