Despite having good quality scores in their HITs, some of us have gotten locked out. No warning, no email, no responses, no nothing. They were a great source of money when nothing else was available or even just exclusively working on them. Us few unlucky ones are doomed forever :(

What a shame. They should at least give you a reason. Please keep us updated?

The reason that I have heard is that you are too close to the $600 'limit'.

After you get $600 from any one entity, that entity has to send you a 1066 and claim you as an independent contractor. So rather than worry about tax stuff and sending forms, they just take away qualifications.

WRONG. It was their mistake. Most of us got our quals back again. They did something wrong. I don't think they let anyone know they were wrong though. Typical RnR communication.

Um, it hasn't been that way in a long time...

Important Tax Information about your Mechanical Turk Worker Account

    Dear Amazon Mechanical Turk Worker,

The IRS published new regulations under section 6050W. As a result of this change, Amazon Payments, as the third party payment network provider for Mechanical Turk transactions, is responsible for reporting transactions that meet the IRS thresholds via Form 1099-K, this reporting includes Worker earnings. As a result of this change, Mechanical Turk will no longer provide the Mechanical Turk tax report to Requesters.

No action is required on your part.

Information on the Amazon Payments policy related to 1099Ks is available here. The Form 1099-K reporting instructions and the IRS website provide more information about these regulations.

    Sincerely,

    The Amazon Mechanical Turk Team

P.S. Please note this information does not constitute tax, legal, or other professional advice. To find out how this new legislation will affect your business, or if you have other questions, please contact your tax, legal, or other professional adviser.

Beginning with the 2011 tax year, new Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations require that U.S. third-party settlement organizations and payment processors, including Amazon Payments, file Form 1099-K to report unadjusted annual gross sales or payment volume information for customers who meet both of the following thresholds in a calendar year:

More than $20,000 in gross payment volume, and
    More than 200 transactions.

I've heard of people with much high and much lower than $600 getting randomly locked out, so that probably isn't it. They have indeed returned some quals, but I wasn't one of the lucky ones. I've sent like half a dozen emails of some form to them, but nothing.

Too bad that isn't a sticky, would save so much time if people would take 30 seconds to read it but I guess some like to speculate...

Quality score 1.1 - AutoGranted on Request is less than 13

I'm at 13, but a lot of other people randomly ended up there too.

Sort of a newbie here. I have no idea how to figure out my scores for Productrnr. I do them a lot when I do turk, but no idea how you figure out what all their numbers mean?

I think for the most part you just have to do quality work and return HITs that have lots and lots of pics that don't load. YOu should then be fine until they randomly lock you out.

That's the weird one that others were losing the qualification and getting back with no real reason why it was lost. The other accuracy qualifier, I haven't read of people getting that back.

I would shoot them a mail every few days and ask, can't hurt and it was obviously some strange thing that happened on their end.
