Quite often I don't notice captchas coming up when I'm working on a batch and auto accepting. Then I do a task that hasn't been accepted, have to go back, fill in the captcha, and then complete the task again. It would be great if there was a script that rang a bell or did anything that would make sure that you notice when one of these come up.

I couldn't agree with you more! Yeah tell me about it! I've gone through the same thing you have. It's super annoying!

Sometimes after the captcha, I go do the task and forget that it is NOT auto-accepting because of the captcha. Accept again, click auto-accept, then do the task...

    Hello

Just completed a browser extension that has this functionality, specifically, showing an alert icon and playing an alert audio snippet when a CAPTCHA is encountered. Here is the post on this forum regarding the extension. In addition to showing an alert icon and playing an audio alert, if a CAPTCHA appears in a tab that tab's title will be changed to "CAPTCHA".

The extension is a set of tools for AMT Workers, and dealing with CAPTCHAs is one of those tools. The tasks that the tools deal with are, generally speaking, 1) dealing with CAPTCHAs; 2) option to always have the "Automatically accept next HIT" checkbox checked; 3) change the size and vertical position of the job window; 4) show a "Return and Accept" button that allows one to return the current job and load a new job in the group, all in one click. Each tool function has an on/off setting that is modified by entering the tool menu. The tool menu is present on any job page; it is accessible by clicking on a "Tools" button that shows at the top center of the screen. By default all of the tools are disabled; after installing the extension you will need to choose to enable which tools you would like to be active.

The alert icon will show up on all open tabs that have running jobs in them; the audio alert will play on the tab that first encounters the CAPTCHA. The alert icon is fixed in the top left corner of the screen, and so when you scroll down the screen the icon scrolls down with you; likewise, when you are halfway down the page, the icon will still show up where you are able to see it, in the top left corner of the screen. After 30 seconds, if the CAPTCHA has not been solved and another tab has encountered a CAPTCHA which is waiting to be solved, the audio alert will play in that second tab, and so on, in the third tab, fourth tab, etc.

The extension includes 7 low-definition audio snippets, and so the extension comes to about 80 KB for Firefox, 120 KB for Chrome. There is an option, within the extension, to download and install* a set of 7 high-definition audio snippets, which are downloaded from a public paste on the site pastebin.com. The size of this set of audio files is about 500 KB. There doesn't seem to be much, if any, loss in computing speed when running the extension. (After installing the high definition audio snippets, there is an option to remove them and revert to the low-definition snippets, is desired.) Downloading and installing the high-definition audio is highly recommended; it is almost like a breath of fresh air to hear the crisper and clearer sound of these audio snippets. ;)

    * Installation and uninstallation refer to saving the data in the browser's local storage.
