Seems like everything is taller, larger or bigger than normal in these old houses. Is this the one you mentioned not having any electricity?
You are right about that. Yes, no electricity. Having to run some temporary power for lights / tools. Rewiring the house is going to be one heck of a job. Probably a year from that at least. Over 20 rooms total on 4 floors
I'm surprised there weren't any squatters. They could have easily claimed the property. I've read few stories about homeowners who lost their properties over trespassers gaining ownership just by occupying it. Averse possession they call it. Crazy! More for people who haven't been on their properties for a long time. Not in your case but thought it was a crazy law.
That is actually a law here in Indiana as well. Many thieves and squatters have been in the property over the years but now it is locked down like a jail so that is not as big of a concern. Thousands of pounds of trash in the house that I am slowly getting rid of but stopping the water is a bigger concern than the inside at the moment
