It set my anti virus off which blocked it. Maybe it's getting by yours Flora. May want to look into it. Some bitcoin virus that uses your cpu to make bitcoin currency elsewhere from what I read. :worry::worry::worry:
Had a brief power outage and had to sign in again and got the same notice from AVG.The questionable site is listed as Coinhive.com and is infected with a JS:Miner-C[Trj]. I don't get this at Crowd, which is also unprotected by https: Hub does have https: Looks like a new kinda spam attack. Plus a form of theft.
I just tried to view yesterday's thread, because some one mentioned this then, and I got the AVG notice again. Seems like just attempting to access the forum gets you attacked.
I haven't noticed any problems, but I imagine it is coming in via whatever half-assed ad network is being used here, just like the popups. That or Andy added it figuring he's gonna make some money off this thing somehow.
To be more clear, if it is the bitcoin thing I've been hearing about lately, it isn't technically a virus, although your software may call it that. It is javascript being run by either the page itself or one of the ads on the page. If task manager is showing cpu load while MTF is loaded in a tab, but the cpu load goes away when the tab closes, that is probably it. But if that is what is going on, you aren't being infected as such. Nothing remains on your computer or running when the site isn't open. Of course it could actually be a virus. I've just been hearing about the above scenario a lot lately -- it is often added by the shady people running sites as a way of making money off visitors instead of (or as well as) ads.
The thing is it could be intentional. Some sites are using coinhive as a revenue stream rather than using ads. I dont know one way or the other, but if it concerns you there are several add-ons that block them, I use Block Coin Miners, but this site does not give me a warning so I am betting that uBlock also stops them.

I switched to uBlock and am not getting the virus warning now. It is being carried in as an ad. On line indicates that it is hard to control and remove. Supposedly it brings friends with it. Using a site to mine is a malicious act when it is imposed on viewers.
