I am a turker and into my second year now. My approval rating is 99.7%. Of late, I find the work available on Mturk is slowly but surely going down. Nowadays, I don't find that many good surveys and the Data Entry hits also seem to be going down in number. What could be the reason for this? Is this seasonal due to American way of business ? Anybody else having the same thoughts as myself ? Would like your esteemed comments...

I'm just hoping it's because it is summer. Most of the surveys are done by students who are out of school. I just joined in February, so I don't have a good historical perspective. I only Turk during my lunch hour and about an hour or so after dinner, but I was making about $6 a day. Now I struggle to make $2 a day in that same time.

There are certainly more people Turking now. If the amount of work simply stays the same, that still means less work for each person.

This also really exposes who the bad requesters are. With all the people who Turk now, it amazes me that a batch of 40,000+ HITs can sit undisturbed for hours (I am looking at you, Sebastian Darr).

CrowdfFlower / Dolores Labs used to have a lot more HITs up than they do now, also.

I agree, Turker count seems to have gone up, and workers are able to distinguish the good and bad ones. You spotted Sebastian Darr correctly :) 40K hits pending but no one wants to touch them - and not hours I believe its days. I wonder who works on the few 100s which are going down from the pack. Its really hard to find the emails of researchers.

I have done a few of those - its hard to find the emails - and not worth the .02 that you may or may not find.
    But I did 5 - lol

For email finding tasks i suppose it s always better to return the HITs if u r unable to find em...Coz most prolly tht wud be rejected coz they always expect us to come up with some kind of address....But as far as u can find them a valid one we will get it approved
